'87 XJ buggy....... $4000

Had high hopes to get back into 'crawlin but my heart just isn't in it anymore. Time to let this go to someone who'll use and enjoy it.

Many will recognize this as Seth's (proracedriver) former rig. I bought it, traded up for better axles, bought better tires and wheels...... and lost interest. Seth was offered first chance to buy it back, but has decided to stick with his current XJ (I don't blame him...)

'87 XJ 4dr platform. 4.0/Auto/231. Body chopped away from the rockers and half the roof back. Floor boards and unibody rails have been boxed in and reinforced with boat sides and inner cage mated to a partial exo. Retains the factory dash and wiring harness for engine management, etc. Engine runs excellent, shifts as it should, 231 is in good operating condition with an SYE installed.

Front winch bumper tucks in tight and 9000 lb winch is included with controller.

Front header is a late model and narrowed. Dovetail of the front has been started on the driver's side. Passenger side front still needs the battery relocated and narrowed.

Rear is just the cargo floor/unibody with cage work welded to it. About 10" inches is ready to be bobbed off of that once the rear 4-link is built. Currently sitting on bastard-pack leaf springs.

OEM steel gas tank has been relocated mid-ship and the "cab" has been closed in with a rear panel/firewall making it a 2-seater.

Has 2dr XJ seats that flip forward. 4-point racing harnesses for both seats.

Axles are:

9" rear with custom trussing, alloy shafts, locker and 5:13's and Bronco disc brakes.

Front is HP D44 with alloy inners and Yukon joints. New ball joints, new bearings, new hubs. Locker with 5:13's Custom high steer with new arms, studs and wedges. TNT truss set up for 3-link on the driver's side.

Tires/Wheels:

38.5 x 17 MTR Kevlars with very good tread mounted on SpyderLock wheels. AirSoft BB's have been added for balance. No damage to the tires, they were on a street driven truck prior to my getting them.... no rock rash, just smooth street wear.

What it needs:

This rig was a runner/driver until I traded the old axles and tires/wheels for the ones it has now. The 3-link is a long arm "Y" link on the driver's side with custom crossmember already set up, but the new axle upper link mount is in a different location on the truss than the previous one, so the upper arm needs to be modified to fit the joint and long arm mount. So, currently it's sitting on jack stands up front. Once the 3rd link is modified/built, the suspension can be put back under it.

The steering needs minor modifications/fabbing to work with the new axle.

It will need rear shock mounts until the 4-link is built or it could be run the way it is on the leaf packs.

Needs the front dovetail narrowing finished. Battery re-located.

I have a bunch of new crawler joints to go with it to build the rear 4 link and other misc spares.

Asking $4000 for everything. If no takers, I'll take parts requests and part it in a month or so.

Correction... Those axles are both full width.

I'm all over that front bumper if you decide to part it.

Got that paint code (goose shat green)? Thinking about painting my motorcycle tank that color.
