Won't say bye bye to the Corvette SS in this months Motor Trend that has that beastly Viper on the cover

Hand built "600 plus" horse supercharged V8, no more then 2000 built a year

price may be in 6 figures so prob a little more then the vipers est base of $90,000

I do like the fact that the viper makes its 600 horsepower from straight up cubic inches and not a supercharger

oh that same V8 will also be in the next Caddy CTS-V too

If I an not mistaken the new Z06 is 604 horsepower. I have driven quite a few z06s including the newest one. Of course I only can get to 25 mph in the shop yard.:tears:

they are putting it in the CTSV lol YES !! not that i can afford a new one but wouldnt mind one when they are sub $30 grand. They are reallying do stuff right over there at caddy. Not even the same company as the 1980s /1990s caddillac.

Its 505. Its a bad mofo, but the new generation viper will be faster until GM answers back. Not sure what they're gonna call it though, I've heard everything from Stingray to SS to Bluedevil. I think it would be pretty cool for them to bring back the Stingray name. It would be worthy.

Really? It would make more sense to put it in the STS-V.

I heard the next generation CTS is really supposed to be something special though.

Got a guy around town with a Ford GT-500, pulled the SC off and put twin turbo on and is pushing over 1k HP. He got beat by a hyabusa(sp) so now he wants to take that motor out and build a newer faster one. As it is right now he has trouble going into second because it tends to spin out

mehhh that viper can't and won't compare to the vette. The vette is gonna own it in every category especially if they actually build the aformentioned zo6 ss that thing is crazy. They did a test in motor trend or w/e and they took it to the nuremburg (sp) and they posted the second fast time EVER in the tracks history. The only car ever to go faster was the carrea gt if i remember correctly. mmmmm someday i will own one, someday LOL

While the Z06 is an impressive car, and I agree, better that the Viper, it is nowhere near the second fastest car to run the 'ring.

Current record stands (not be a race car) at 6:55 in a Radical SR8, and there are many other cars that are faster then the Z06's 7:42.9 best time, notably both Porsche 997 GT3 and Turbo.

i gotta look through my road and track and motor trend archives and see if i can find it. I remember reading about it b/c apparently chevy took the car over there for a weeks worth of testing on the burg and they ended up posting the second fastest time.

I know they also said in the article that there has been different variations of the burg course. That back in the day it use to be a shorter course than it is now, so that some older cars have faster lap times but the course was shorter thus leaving the answer up in the air.

But i believe they said that out of the cars that raced on the current track setup they said it was second fastest to the carrera gt whatever one is with the big wing i can't quite remember.
