5.3L MJ D44 and Junk.

I can see why it took forever. I wouldn't get any work done if I had tools like that in my shop.

Heh Heh.

Cut 11" out of the bed today.

I have a few questions, will my Rock Krawler three link brackets bolt onto the MJ "frame" rails? Is the interior roofline similar to that of an XJ? I was thinking of throwing the main hoop from my Cherokee in if they are the same size

rock krawler kit should bolt up without issue, not sure about the main hoop, im sure with some tweaks it should work, id recomend addin some legs from the rockers to the fram rail for a little extra support, plans for the rig sounds sick, keep it up

A little off-topic, but what kind of mileage do you get with the 5.3?

My 4.0L isn't going to last forever, and i always debate about the 4.8. They're super-cheap.
that 4.8 is a damn good motor too, i had one in my 02 silverado. i liked it.

Do you have any further details on the "Trimmed truck manifolds to fit?" They look like they fit in there pretty well.

I was thinking about adding some support there, do you think it is necessary? It is welded to the floor on the inside the entire length, I guess more support couldn't hurt.

Nothing wrong with the 4.8 either, I think too much power is going to be bad for my D44's anyway.

I cut off the EGR setup on the passenger manifold and cut the flange off the driver's side. When I get more parts in the Jeep I'll start mocking up the exhaust and show some more photos. I will have to do some welding on the manifolds to cover up the hole for the EGR as well as add a flange for the rest of the exhaust to bolt up to.

Awesome build!

I am not sure those motor mounts (body side, the engine side looks great) will hold up if you plan on taking it into low earth orbit like the xj.

Love that MJ, all this MJ pr0n is making me want one even more... btw is your shop down the street from car guyz in NH?

It's a very straightforward swap, and it's great to drive. Power, mileage, handling and great 80's styling! You're welcome to take mine for a rip if you're around.

That's a really nice offer, but that's exactly how I ended up with the 5.3L in my XJ - I will have to pass so my wife doesn't kill me.

Edit: It actually looks like an easier swap than the XJ.
