on the assist thing, old_man sells completely rebuilt and ported boxes for $160 shipped if you dont feel like tapping an old box. that plus a harbor freight ram, some hoses, generic cooler... in it for real cheap.

Tried putting the carpet on, but im too tired to mess with it right now, so this is how its staying tonight

Ill finish the carpeting tommorow, and ill weld the top brace in as well.

Still looking for some sort of rubber boot to seal the shock off from the elements, but overall, the jeep feels super stable on road, it rides better, compared to my old set up. I cant wait to see how stable its gonna be offroad, so far im really happy with it.

Nice I like it, maybe stealing the idea. I dont like how most setups take up so much room. what lenth travel shocks?

the stupidest jeep on the planet.

if i had windows and doors still id seal em' off with shock boots.

its a nice simple, effective way to mount rear shocks.

i just gotta measure again, bc mine are huge, the top mount will be pretty much level with the seatback. and they make rubber pipe fitting things that would work too, seen em at hardware stores.

Shocks are 12 inch travel. I think for now, im going to plate that section of the b pillar with some 11 gauge, and a cage is higher on my list than it was before. I m gonna need to get a bender now

Mines not that bad just yet, most of the b pillars seem to fail right where that gay vent is, if i plate it, i think it should last until the cage. I dont think im ready to weld the doors on yet lol

I know what rubber boots you're talking about, I see them all over the place on rooftops while Im working. I've seen ones meant for a ~2" OD that open up to a 12"x12" base. Plenty of room to work with and trim the boot down to fit the opening in the floor/wheelwell needing for shocks. I think I'm gunna try to use some for mine.

If you had a frame out back you wouldn't have to worry about fitting long travel shocks.

Ordering an XJ rebuilt/tapped steering box, lines, a cooler, and a ram in the near future.

I think im going to have to re-work my trackbar, and possibly the lower bracket for space for the ram to go. I dont want to mount off of the diff cover if possible.

Think if i went to a straight trackbar there would be enough room?

I always run a straight track bar but I do move the trackbar forward on the frame rail.

Idk, it'd be tight. Especially when you flex the drivers side up and the passenger side drops.

I'd almost think you needed to go with a bracket over the axle or maybe the newly engineered Cal mount.
