4.6 Stroker happiness

There is no correct answer to your question. My answer is called use the search function on the internet. Look on Jeep Strokers... its an entire website devoted to these engines alone.

Every engine is different and will require different things.

If you did any research at all you would quickly discover that you cannot reflash or "tune" Chrysler computers like the ones in Cherokees. So that can make it challenging.

Chris's Jeep only required 24 LB injectors and a bigger TB, but other than that it was stock components tuning wise. But like I said, every engine will be different.

alright thanks. i'll check that site out. ive researched some and seen that changes have been made to the block and head and wondered what was preferred. so this build did not require a piggy back system to run fine in closed loop...and was it an aftermarket throttle-body or a stock one bored?

and i'm not trying to be lazy or naive, i'm just in a hurry to purchase the block and head for my engine machining class since both my 98 and 00 are running strong.

The stock computer can handle closed loop tuning on a stroker. Open loop, or WOT, is where your tuning becomes a factor. On a basic 4.6-4.7 build, a piggyback is overkill tuning. Usually an injector upgrade and possibly an adjustment to the MAP signal is all people need. Like Tyler said, this is well covered, especially on Jeep Strokers.

and as far as the preferred block to purchase... anything 96 or newer? i located a non running 97 cherokee engine with a "bad head gasket". i just wanted to make sure it will work in my 00 with the only difference being the angle of the oil filter. and the TJ, ZJ, and WJ blocks will or wont work with stock motor mounts?
