This may sound like a bad idea, but maybe it's not, that's why I'm asking. I have a 4.0 who's oil pressure is heading south (thanks to a little sumarine expedition=hydrolock), so a rebuild is in order. I already had to replace one rod/piston assembly to replace the bent one from above said stupidity, but that's pretty much all I did. I considered doing the main/rod bearings, but if I can do this, no need. Can I build a standard bore stroker leaving the engine in the vehicle? I know I'll have to pull the head and drop the pan, disco the crank, pull the pistons, yada yada yada, but is there anything I'm missing that won't let this work? From what I've heard, you can hone the cylinders with some kinda hand held tool. I just had the head milled (.035) so it's flat, and all the other machine work can be done to items that I can pull out/install in my garage, right? Crap, I just thought about the cam bearings. They probably need done too, especialy when you consider I'm on my 3rd cam because it ate the first two (1 factory & I'm on my 2nd Crane 753905). Is there any way to get new ones in there without taking it to the machine shop? Honestly, I'm supprised this thing still runs perfectly (except for the oil pressure) or runs at all for that matter after all the crap I put it through. These 4.0L's are freakin' tanks! So is this just a retarded idea, or is it feasable, especially considering I need to at least do the main/rod bearings anyways if I don't do this?

Not feasable - and I've never seen a 4.0 with any mileage on it that didn't need to be bored - #1 cylinder usually needs at least .030 to straighten it out.
