4.3 chevy swap?

Did you know that you are putting yourself, and more importantly others around you, in danger when you are driving your XJ 87 mph with 33 inch tires while pulling a 2000 pound trailer? I would be interested in hearing a legitimate reason why someone would do this?
did you know that you should stop acting like I'm going to kill everyone without any evidence?

The highways I run that kind of speed on with a lifted jeep are the ones I have driven hundreds of times. They are straight, I know every turn and bump, and I only run that fast when I have plenty of space in front of me, not zipping through traffic. I follow the 2 second rule, even when going that fast (ESPECIALLY when going that fast), unlike 99% of the people in this state.

If I'm not towing a trailer, and driving one of the stock jeeps, I will do 80 generally, but again, I know these roads very well and I do not tailgate, EVER.

Back to tech.

On my 4.3 powered XJ it has a triple core rad that is only slightly taller than the stock unit. It is running a single electric fan that is 15" in diameter. Not sure on the airflow rating. Temps run 160 consistently and the highest it has ever gotten is 180 when I was running the piss out of it. It almost runs too cool. I don't see cooling being an issue as mentioned above. I do agree that it is more trouble than doing a stroker.

Apples to oranges my friend. Not even a remotely valid comparison.

I have a 93 XJ w/ a 4.0 and a 90 XJ with a 96 4.3 in it. I love them both. I didn't do the swap so I can't say how difficult it was but I can say it sounds mean as hell with true duals running out of the back! The 4.3 is a blast and is the head turner without a doubt.
so you do like the 4.3 better then the 4.0? or is there minimal difference?

I like to think there is a power difference. Its hard to compare them though due to gear ratios differences and tire differences. The 4.3 with no cats and 40 series flowmasters sounds sick! It always is the head turner out on the trails. It seems to really have more "bite" and low end torque but that is comparing 4.56s on 35s to 5.13s with 36s.... not a valid comparison by any means. I didn't do the swap so I can't say as to the difficulty. I can say that all of the computers and wiring look pretty clean and there are not any clearance issues I have encountered yet. I'll get some pictures and a sound clip next time I get it cleaned up.
