383d Mj (decent amount of pictures 56k beware)

Nope the cheap gallon was 150 and the good gallon was 450. Automotive paint isnt cheap. Thats just base coat. I have about 1500 in materials for the paint alone. Dont even get me started on the rest of the jeep I dont even want to think about it.

Wow, that's insane. Why would you want to have so much invested in paint on a trail rig?

I don't think I've ever paid more than 100 bucks for a can a paint. That's insane to me.

I guess if ya got it ya might as well spend it.

Carry on with the pictures please.

Its not just a trail rig. Its my only car. Ive done the beat to hell thing before and it kinda bugs me to not have something nice that I am sinking all this time into. So I am going a different route on this one. This last round of the build has cost about 4500. With paint being the smallest part. Motor parts were way more.

Very, very nice build! Can you post more pictures of the dash and how you built that portion? It looks really well done. Excellent work! consider me subscribed.

darn computer- sorry for accidental double post. shame on me

Screwed up on your first post! lol

It's ok. It happens to best/worst of us.

Can't say that I've seen double posts 2 and a half hours apart tho.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I dont have any pictures of the dash at this moment. But I can take some when I redo it for the 97 up interior if you want. It is just a piece of aluminum that was bent and had holes cut to fit.

Finished building the motor and started to tear into the trans for the shift kit and corvette servo. I also just got a 2000 xj to start swapping parts over to mine from. Its a limited can you say heated leather.

looking good man!
Good luck on the tranny build, i just built a 700r4 for my van (well, over a year and a half ago at this point).
Are you just doing a valve body shift kit? I ended up going completely through mine, changed all the frictions and steels, put in The Beast sun shell, the better sprag, etc. It's been bulletproof, i flog the shit out of it in a 5000lb van. all i can say is make sure the c clips for the TC and boost valves are in all the way. they are way up in there and i think there's a ridge or something in there that keeps the clips from popping out so you think they're in the right spot, but it's really not. dont ask me how i know...

I totally understand where your coming from. There is nothing wrong with a clean rig to DD AND wheel. You would never think I wheel mine as clean as I keep it......LESS TIME MY PARTS ARE COVERED IN MUD=LESS MONEY SPENT ON BROKE SHIZ:gee:

I just did a valve body shift kit, corvette servos, and a torque converter lock up control. To be honest this jeep will see way more street use than wheeling for awhile. I am thinking about going back to school and it will be a mode of transportation for awhile. Just happens to be a mode that puts a smile on my face.

hey i cant drive a boring car either so i know what you mean.
As for the shift kit, i've actually had my van chirp second on occasions (stock 350 with 286k on it in a 5000lb van with 275's on the back). it's got a nice positive 1-2 shift. the only thing i noticed is the shift points are a tad off for both upshifts and downshifts. i think the increased line pressure effected how the governor works, so i just need to callibrate it a hair. easy to do.

Thats why I wheel mine in the mid summer months!
