37x12.50 advice

I have a buddy with an F-350 crewcab longbed lifted like 10"(gay I know) with a gas motor in it. He is looking to replace his tires and doesn't know what to get. He had Pro Comp's I think but he had 3 sidewalls burst on him so he doesn't want them again. Any advice on that size tire on a truck that weighs that much would be appreciated. I don't want to know about how your 33's or 35's on your Cherokee or 1500 do.

I loved my ProCrap Extreme All Terrains (ext. cab long bed F350, 6").
After that set I needed tires and was broke so I picked up some HMMWV tires for it, those did pretty good for what they were.

II'd guess that your buddy was having the sidewalls burst because he got a set with a lower load range than he needs for his truck. IRC, both sets were load range E... never had issues with any of em. I'd suggest the Extreme All Terrains but make sure he gets the load range E ones.

What kind of driving/wheeling does this rig do? If it's simply tow rig duty but he wants a stockish ride i'd go for a set of BFG All Terrains or General Grabber AT2's Loard Range E (if they're available in the size that he wants).

He doesn't really wheel it, I know I know...But he is a redneck dude that loves big trucks. He's had the same set of tires on the truck since he bought it 5 years ago and who knows how long the PO had them. They were load range D I believe so the weight shouldn't have done it. I think it was his wheel offset, at full lock his tires would rub with springs bad so maybe it was putting too much lateral force on the sidewall and the combination of an old set of tires. He has 2 BFG all terrains on it right now but he said he doesn't like the look. I'll let him know that first off he's a dork for going for looks and second to get a set of street tires.

The Pro Comps I mentioned looked good, rode nice and smooth, and did pretty good in the mud. Tell him he needs wider wheels. And that there's nothing wrong with big trucks, especially Fords (I'm a bit redneck too), but that he's a douche for not getting a diesel.

What was the weight rating on those procomps? Did the sidewalls burst due to excessive heat caused by overloading? Either way, I second what Adam (Dundy) said about Grabber AT2 LR E's. I've never owned them but I've never heard a horror story about them either.

I have 40x15.50 Toyo MT's on my F250...no problems or complaints as of yet


Maybe its just me but 12.50 is a little skinny for 37" on a F-350

first off, the needs to sell it and get a real truck..like a Dodge. i had 40" ProComp Xtreme All Terrains on my old truck, rode smooth and didnt wear that bad even while towing heavy loads often

When I first got my dodge diesel it had 35/12.50 Procrap Xts and I hated them, they were really soft and bouncy and only load range D, I now have 37/13.50 Toyo M/T's and I will never run a different tire on that truck, they are load range E and have an unbelievably thick sidewall!
