32" tires, new gears?

I run 4.56's on 32's and still pull 18mpg on the highway @ 60-65mph. I personally wouldnt go 4.11's but thats my opinion. I also have an aw4 so I can run 80mph if I want and still be right at 3000rpms. If you have a 3spd auto or manual transmission these numbers will differ.

Also, spend a little more on a decent brand of gears. I am running Yukon gears and I am very happy. There are other good brands besides Yukon out there, just avoid the no-name super bargain sets you find out there and you should be good
 
Not to hyjack...but how hard is it to put gears in yourself?? im not scared to get messy but ive never seen the inside of an axle. and..its my DD so it needs to done over a weekend, how long has it taken you guys to do it??
 
just swapped in some used 4.10s for mine, because they were free, and its soooo nice after driving with 3.55's you dont need to though, i only saw a 1-3mpg difference

first time i did one it took all weekend. there is a lot more too it then just throwing some new gears in. and if you dont have the right tools, then you might as well just take it in. the tools just about as much as one rebuild.
 
I have 4.56's w/ 5 spd and 32's and i love it. Got the gears for about 450 and then they charged me $250 an axle so I made it out a little under 1k. Ask arround for the best prices b/c some people will rip you a new 1.

How about superior gear? I seem to be finding alot of gears on these websites that are made by them.
 
I just lifted my 96 and left the stock gears in it for now. I will be switching to 4.56 gears because that is what I had in my 87 that I kept the axles from. Although it really isn't as bad as everyone makes it sound. I have PLENTY of go power on the street. I haven't wheeled it yet because there are some more things I want to get done before I do. Although having the stock gears does not bother me at all for daily driving.
 
I had 4.11's and 32's and just didn't pull well at all. Swapped them out for 4.56's and the same 32's and much better.
 
I just put 4.10's in my Cherokee and I love it. It's also my DD and I'm thinking of going to 32's. The guys that are telling you to go with the 4.56's prolly do more wheeling than you do. I would go with the 4.10's unless you plan on going bigger than 32's in the future.
 
I bought my rig with 32" BFG's and it rides great, it must be re-geared then I would imagine?

Trust me................if you dont know what you are doing................your going to be putting more money into it in the long run..............

I disagree. Do it yourself and save the money. It's not rocket science.
 
Dang, I wish the 8.25 had the "adjusting nuts" on either side of the carrier so that you can adjust the backlash without taking the carrier out and messing with shims....

Must be nice...
 
What is a carrier exactly? Someone said I will have to buy a carrier for my front D30? Is that true? Whats the purpose? It doesnt have on already or what? I dont need one for the C8.25 do I?
