There are a few fellows here running their own custon 3 links and they look well done...Clayton Offroad makes a well engineered 3 link as well...

You'll have to clarify what you want to run. Do you want to run 3 arms (2 lower 1 upper) with a track bar? 1 straight arm, 1 radius arm with trackbar? 2 lowers, and a wishbone/parabolic upper with no trackbar? Or maybe something else? There are people running each of these setups, and to get the best information on each, you may want to decide what you want and ask questions on that setup. All of the setups do work, some better than others. In this case, the search function is your friend. There has been discussions in the not to distant past about linked setups.
 
toz, those aren't three links.

they're "radius arms".

I know, i know, we can debate about nomenclature until the cows come home....

if you were counting the tracbar as the "third link", they're not usually counted in link discussions....

however, maybe thats what scot had pictured?

What do you call a 3 link? What I have shown minus one of the Uppers?

I always just went but links at the body.

well for starters im new to all this stuff. i have a buddy who is big time into rock buggies. who is helping me. he was saying we should do a 3 link. what he explained to me was driver side LCA conecting to the UCA. passenger side LCA goin to to unibody with a arm going back to the axle. no UCA on passenger side. as i said im new to this stuff. but thats what i got out his explination. does what i said make since?
 
I call that a radius arm set-up, that version is just using a single link for axle rotation control.

yes, it is effective, and is probably the ULTIMATE in the K.I.S.S. principal.

I used to run that set-up, many on this forum run it with great sucess....

I think if you try a word search using the word "radius" or "clayton*" or "arm"
might help you gather information.

I'm running a 3 link midarm from with coilovers. Two fixed lowers & a single adjustable upper, with TB. The flex is way more than my shorty coilovers can provide (at the moment) but is very well balanced & drives halfway decent.

It works pretty good, other than some occasional DW which I think is caused by my unbalanced & beadlocked 38.5s or maybe it's the warped front rotor?

If you're asking about a front triangulated 3 link than it'll work great for flex and you can ditch the TB, but you'll need full hydra steering and you'll have to get real creative to clear the oilpan.......unless you put the triangulated link on the bottom. (I might be doing this very soon...)

If you're asking about 3 link rear, that's easy, everyone's doing it.
 
thanx for the feed back everyone. my buddy knows how to do the set up. i just wanted to know if its a good set up for a xj. seems like it is.
