3.50 to 3.54 close enough match?

I have a ford 9 inch with 3.50 gears and I have a hp44 with 3.54 gears. Are they close enough to run or far enough apart to fudge some stuff up?

I am thinking they are good but need some better info, a positive answer!

ive seen .o1 difference as ok, such as 4.10 to 4.11, but not .04.

i would say it really depends on the transfercase and type of road surface when in 4wd.

2% difference is the rule of thumb... so let's see... 2% of 3.54 is .0708 so yep, you should be good to go.

dude, if you put any three numbers together, there is probably a ford 9" gear ratio like it.

I pulled up a pars list for gears at work once, it was 3 pages long.

To find the difference, divide the 2 ratios. Example 3.54 divided by 3.50 = 1.01. Then read the numbers to the right of the decimal. In this case it is only 1% so it's fine. If you had a 3.73 and a 3.54 it would be 1.053 or a little over 5%. That would be a no go.
