2wd ax15 for my 71 gremlin

Does anyone know if a 4wd ax15 tranny can be converted to 2wd? Will the ax15 handle a stock amc 360 in front of it? any one put one behind a v-8?

yes they can be converted, it requires the whole output shaft to be changed.

no it will not last behind a 360, the ax15 is a crap tranny, look for a nv3500/nv3550

You may be able to find an AX15 or NV3350 in 2WD form, that would require less to convert it form a 4WD tranny. But I wouldn't waste my time on one. Go for a TKO500/600 or a T56.

I have it on the road now, but with a 904 auto. Orignaly it was a 3 speed stick and I would love to put a stick in it again. I will look into these other trannys thanks for the input.
