Popping in 4wd sounds more like a stretching chain than a bearing, but that's just my humble opinion.

As far as the kits, I guess the first place you could look is at the New Venture (New Process) website, and see if the kit is listed there to get an idea of the parts list. Additionally, I'd bet that most of the major driveline shops online would have this kind of thing as well.

I've never bought a rebuild kit, so I can't help on pricing estimates outside of a wild guess that it'd be in the $100-250 range.

national drivetrain in chicago.

ask for kevin ethelridge tell him bj mcdonald sent you

bearing/seal kits go for around 100 bucks.

a namebrand chain like morse or cloyes goes for around 60 bucks.

231's are extremely easy to rebuild.

have fun!

Beezil,

I got my 231 kit from them about 2 weeks ago. Herd about them from you on the JU forum. Got a deal on the kit too.

Thanks,

sounds like a worn out range fork......once the pads go, its metal-to-metal contact........and then you loose the shift ring....it could also be a simple adjustment made to the linkages, and that would be great!
but you'll never know fer sure until you take it apart......can you work out something with the guy, that if the case turns out to be a real mess, you can return the thing for your money back?

THAT'D BE A NICE DEAL!

cool! well he is my friend and i think iam going to pick it up tonight and take it apart so i let u know what i c in it!!

Stoney, you can also talk to JB Conversions, or look at their web site. They have a number of options for 231 rebuild kits.
