OK, now that the car is more or less race ready and I can focus on logistics, its time to get serious about planning.

We're commited to cover pits for us, for a 4500 car from Bako, and possibly another 4600 car (Rick, chime in?).

Can i get each of you who's interested in coming out and able to commit to pitting Thursday to post up here with name and what day you're coming in? I'll hit you each back channel with more details and every bit of contact info that may help you reach me between now and KOH if you feel the need.

I can't commit to it, but I'm trying to get some t-shirts made up just for this years pit staff that I can give away free.

Thanks!

Cal

There will be four pit locations that will need staffing. We are pitting for 3 cars, 2 stock class XJ's and one mod class Wrangler. We've agreed to team in the pits with the other two cars both because they need the help and because it is more interesting for the pit crews if there are more cars to work with. When we blow by a pit because we're going well and don't need to stop there's not much to do out there all day. Pitting for 3 cars makes it much more interesting.

We've had our KOH finish and podium, we've won the national series, now we want to win KOH. Last year we ran slightly conservative because we didn't want to DNF two years in a row, and we were challenging for the lead. This year we're going for the win. We don't expect it to be easy as there are more good drivers this year in cars that are tested so we're going to have to be on our game and have some good luck.

You guys got this! Just make sure you yell at Cal to move faster. I've never seen a race car passenger move so slowwwww :P

Good luck guys

Cal, I'll get there Weds a.m.; probably not super early, just late enough to avoid traffic. Probably staying at my friend's Tuesday night, so I won't have as long of a haul on Weds a.m.

I wear an XL... that usually gets REALLY dirty in a couple spots. LOL.

We will also be pitting for Jeff Banchet's XJ this year(the other stock class XJ) I should probably double check on who the driver of record is.
I will be there handling pit #1.

Free T-shirt? I'm in. :) Got the whole week off. Can head up any time after work on Friday and maybe stake out a Socalxj claim on the lakebed.

I'll probably be there the weekend of the 31st to the 1st to help get Richard's motor home out there. Then I'll be back out Tuesday night. I might just bring the car Tuesday to save some money.

Will the car hold some gas cans?

;)

Ok.... jeep it is... After I wrote that I realized that Big Bird probably isn't coming this year, and there's not too many radios around. I don't think the Baofeng's will have the range to hit the repeater from Bessemer.

I should have something for the guys who come out to help. :)

They'll work fine. The repeater is something close to 2000 feet above the lakebed.

you guys need a rebuild kit on them ctms? :D im sure i could hook that up for the race....

Ok boys and girls... Mandatory pit meeting at 8 pm 136 poison spyer in hammertown. You need to be here (and I need you here) to be part of the pit crew. - James 4643 Crew Chief - (unless prior arrangements have been made, you are responsible for your pit wrist bands)

How did he finish? got to see a little of his live coverage, but missed the finish. Jeep looked GOOD in the rocks.
