2001 TJ, 3" lift... how to recenter rear axle? how much t case drop?

Look the guy just said he wanted 3" spacers... so I gave him 3" spacers... I personally would keep it 2" or under... but it's not my call

the man tells me what he wants and give me money... simple as that

I am a little un easy about the setup myself as well... I was from the get go... 3" i the front would not worry me at all... and truthfully with the spreader it spreader the weight out over a larger area...

but I explained that he should stay at 2-2.5" because of the way that Jeep is setup in the rear

I mean I am not going to tell the guy NO... if I explained it to him I am fine...

this guy just wants to put bigger tires on his Jeep so he can look cool

all I did was install a budget boost, some JK Rubicon shocks and a t case drop... it just so happens that I made the budget boost myself...

I just made the part he asked for... I did not force him to use it... remember he contacted me... I did not contact him

I am done with this thread

Wait...... This is an XJ/MJ specific website/club?

Not gonna play nice with the TJ guy?

Or is it because he's in Kansas City and not posting girlie pics from CA?

I'm so confused.........

This thread kinda reminds me of high school.... Or Pirate, I can't decide. Why be an asshat to a guy who just wanted some advice on how to do something? It's not like he asked your opinion on what he did or anything

Well first, he posted it in non tech/ off topic. Then he got butt hurt because we told him what he was doing was dangerous. Just like all of the other people that have suggested big spacers and other dangerous lift. And just for simple maths sake, if you do a 3 inch body lift, you need to drop the trac bar 3 inches. But either way, stupid dangerous. Like my dad use to say "can't teach stupid." But ill be the first to give the darwin award when stuff goes wrong

I'd like to see this TJ run for ROTM, looks like a nice rig!

tone tone tone... if you going to instigate, you gotta do it like this.

ericfx, what you do to vehicles is dangerous. wether the guy contacted you or not, should have enlightened him. not thrown fuel in the fire of "dangerous cheap ass ways to lift your jeep"

(thats how you do it tone lol, sarcasm is hard to detect through text)

if you read the thread you would know that we covered this already... kastein and i already told him the follies of his spacers... and a couple more off hand...

you can shear the bumpstop tower off. i would say thats a problem. and because it is uncommon, doesnt mean its smart.

I am not certain you understand the concepts of leverage and friction. Your spacers don't have a flange sticking down around the center and as a result, any side force goes directly to the bumpstop tower. If you don't believe me that there are side forces on it set up that way try putting a coil spring on a piece of flat metal at that angle and sit on it, see how long you stay there. When the coil spring puts that much side force on the coil bucket and bumpstop tower without the spacer it's fine because it is fractions of an inch from the coil bucket, it's less OK when it is 3" down the bumpstop tower.

You really should not be fabricating things until you start thinking them through more. ESPECIALLY for other people.

and since you obviously dont have the time to read threads before you like to double post something that shows your ineptitude for reading the english language, please hold your stupidity back and stop trying to defend your butt buddy attention seeking dangerously hack job friend. If someone doesnt want to be told its a bad idea, they shouldnt try to do it. enough said.

Eric, you ask for advice and when people give it, you get angry and defensive. I am pretty sure the guy contacted you because of posts like this in which you advertised the 3" spacer.

If you don't feel they are safe, why offer it up to Jeepers who may not understand the dangers?

JOhn

And a 3/16" spacer :roflmao:

What is that good for? Just put a cement block in the trunk if you can actually see the difference 3/16" makes. And make sure you park on only level pavement, and don't ever let people take a picture of your jeep with you sitting in it unless you put an extra spacer on the driver side so it stays level.

Also, these spacers cost about the same as properly made ones that aren't going to cause problems because they have a flange for the coil spring to ride on so it doesn't push on the bumpstop tower. There is literally no point to using hack-fabbed parts like this, it doesn't even save any money.
