2001 TJ, 3" lift... how to recenter rear axle? how much t case drop?

I am lifting a 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sahara for a local guy...

I am using a home made 3" spacer setup

so far I have the rear spacer installed and the bump stops lengthened


I have a few questions...

1.) At 3" of lift, how far should I lower the transfer case to avoid vibes on the highway?

2.) are there any low buck ways to recenter the REAR axle?

3.) Any reason NOT to run JK Rubicon shocks?

Seriously,Hope you have a good lawyer,I saw the end of this movie,the guy died.
 
further more he has to sign a waiver... basically it says that I am not responsible for anything that might go wrong... but really I do not see any problem here...

I found a rough country rear track bar relocation bracket... I will just order that... hard to beat for $18

as usual RCP Phx you are giving me no real help here
 
But this forum is non-tech. Tow rig/Other tech is the perfect place for tech questions not involving the XJ or MJ.
 
Not sure about low buck('cause I don't know what they cost)but the cheapest way to recenter the rear axle is going to be a track bar relocation bracket. Little bracket bolts to the axle side track bar mount and moves the mounting point up about 2 inches. Other then that, new longer track bar.
Don't forget to loosen and re-torque all the control arm bolts to allow the bushings to un-twist and relax.

you can shear the bumpstop tower off. i would say thats a problem. and because it is uncommon, doesnt mean its smart.

I am not certain you understand the concepts of leverage and friction. Your spacers don't have a flange sticking down around the center and as a result, any side force goes directly to the bumpstop tower. If you don't believe me that there are side forces on it set up that way try putting a coil spring on a piece of flat metal at that angle and sit on it, see how long you stay there. When the coil spring puts that much side force on the coil bucket and bumpstop tower without the spacer it's fine because it is fractions of an inch from the coil bucket, it's less OK when it is 3" down the bumpstop tower.

You really should not be fabricating things until you start thinking them through more. ESPECIALLY for other people.

I have made close to 2 dozen coil spacer sets... with no problems...

Fat bobs garage sells a 3" TJ coil spacer set... they report no problems... it is setup the same way... if it is good enough for them it is good enough for me...

the guy wanted to buy a set of spacers... then he asked me to install it... I am not even remotely worried about it... if Fat Bobs has not has any problem then I highly doubt I will...
 
If you check out the "reputable" manufacturers,you will see they dont sell spacer kits larger than 2" for the TJ's,there is a reason why! Help you,You always ask for input after you already F***** everything up.

you know how many people run ten inch lift blocks? A hell of a lot more than two dozen.

IT'S STILL A BAD IDEA
 
also another side note, this "fat bob's" prolly wouldnt report any problems, cause then people wouldnt buy it... just like if people understood torque and axle wrap, then no one would have 10 inch lift blocks. if you are gonna do it, do it right. get some springs, find some junkyard upgrades. last you twenty times longer, and be a 100 times safer. please keep your scary lifts on pirate.
