I am from Northern IN, I have heard people talk about 2 tracks or trails mid state that you can just drive and drive and drive, then camp, then drive some more. State ground maybe? I don't know, but wanna check it out for a few days and explore, my buddy will be driving his stock Nissan extrerra, so nothing to radical. I think someone told me it was not to far from Silverlake Dunes?

I have a GPS if there are coordinates available.

Thanks for any and all ideas!

Also, can I order my 07 ORV sticker online?

What's up my brother? Actually, from my understanding you can just go up to lunkers and buy a ORV sticker. Or anywhere that sells fishing licenses. Somewhere there is a rough map of trails, and yeah, I also heard that the start of the trails starts within a few minutes of silver lake.

Just offering a quick work of caution. Michigan has two designations of ORVs.
If it says ORV "Trail" it is not open to full size rigs, more like quads and ATV's.
ORV "Route" or access road is what you would be looking for to drive a street sized 4x4. If you get caught on an ATV trail with out of state plates, by the wrong CO, your fines can get impressive. What ever you do, DON'T run the two tracks under power lines or beside RR tracks. Both are considered trespassing. They will prosecute! (Ask me how I know)

That is odd sense nether the power company, or railroad own the land. It's only a right of way. (At least here in OH anyway.) Which is no different than someones land locked driveway. They have the right to drive across it, and responsibility to the maintainance on it, but don't actually own the land.

Oh I never said WHO owned the land.
Not living in Ohio I can not comment on your land use laws, but being a resident in Michigan I can tell you what people here get busted and pay fines for.
I'm just trying to offer advice to keep our Hoosier friend's money in his Jeep Budget.

here's the basic rules in MI...

if it's not posted 'OPEN', then it's closed to ohv's.

if you're on a '2 track' or seasonal road and 'need' 4 wheel drive, you can't be there - - if you're grandmothers station wagon can make it down the road then you're okay, other wise ticket

the 2 tracks really aren't that much fun, to be honest. unless you enjoy driving in the woods in 2wd.

I have paid my 'dues' for being in the wrong areas and these are the lessons I've learned.

Its been getting pretty bad in Michigan. I grew up in the UP and we wheeled all over the place with no issues, but now with all these people posting up on youtube and myspace its been getting more attention. There have been a few cases of illegal wheeling on these sites that the DNR have gotten involved with. Glad I got my own land up there - slowly going to start building a small ORP.
