1st Annual Uwharrie OHV Jamboree ~ Mar. 30th - April 1st

Had a great time. Saw old friends, met new ones. The booth was worth it, met some people who were very interested in the booth/club, and most importantly I think it was a good show of support to URE and the Forest Service.

Almost got to test drive a Razr until the girls before us totaled. Even got some seat time on the trails!

It was good to meet everyone. Saw Nick this morning before we left. We were headed up dickey bell to meet you guys in the afternoon when the weird hub noise started.

I thought it was just the hub and I had spares at the trailer, but it turned out to be both wheel bearings and a spindle. We were lucky to make it off the trail, so up on the trailer the jeep went.

I heard daniel was a traffic jam. Man, there were a ton of people out this weekend.

You would put the picture up with me realizing you were trying to take a picture and escape...

I did snap a pic of stumpy's twin!

Had a good time riding on the trails last night before departing. Even though Glenn is a complete maniac, it's still a good time!

Yes, there were a TON of people on the trails this weekend. I can't remember the last time I saw a crowd that big at Uwharrie.

Well, that was fun. Shall explain my long day and we're going to blame my lack of pictures on Glenn. Im not sure why but im sure ill think of something soon.

It was good to finally meet all of you guys.

Josh hate I missed you and did not get to wheel with you but it was a long ass day for us! James it was good to finally meet you! My adventure in details! Started out leaving the Ville! I hit a railroad track a little too fast and the trailer decided it did not want to follow me any more. So we pulled off US 1 about 15 min from the shop. I had forgotten to pack my hi-lift and did not have a floor jack. The tongue was completely on the ground with a big heavy jeep on it. So I pulled the truck jack and got it up enough to put a board under the trailer jack and the hole it dug. Once Jason, the newbie I drug up there with me Saturday, helped me get hooked back up we headed out. Arrived at the Outpost about 10 sh and meet xjFreakHO. Never saw you again dude but still good to meet you for a few seconds. Tim and Nick showed up and did not recognize me at first. I have lost 35 pounds in the last 4 months. So we got passes got hooked up with April and Andy and then gave them my easy up for shade for the booth. Thanks for doing that guys! I hope you two will continue to shine and be a part of the club. We need young members like you to step up! Next we went to the Daniel trail head to unload and wheel the heep! Once Andy arrived with his new friends from CF we headed up Daniel. It was still a light rain at 10 so everything was wickedly wet. Got to the first ledge and found some people struggling to get up it. None did. There was a guy, Vince I think his name was, out there who was having some trouble. I winched up the ledge and Andy winched too. Shortly there after while the TJ was trying to get off the trail his radiator exploded. Literally! 2" x 6" hole in the top. Never seen the plastic go like that! So sense he was alone and had a brand new motor in the TJ I offered to take him back to the Outpost on my trailer. So we used the winch and my jeep to somewhat control his decent down the trail. On the way out we meet a guy in a Land Cruiser that drug him up the next hill to the final decent to the parking lot. Was a funny sight to see my xj as brakes and the Cruiser as the gas with the TJ dead in the middle! LOL! We backed the trail to the TJ and he winched it on. Jason, Vince, his girl and myself headed to the Jamboree to get him back with his friends. By this time it was 12 and we had seen exactly .25 miles of trails. Jason and I decided to get a burger then head back to Cotton Place Parking lot and meet back up with Andy. I was so ready to wheel. Andy had gone on and ran Daniel and meet me back at the base. So finally we were going to get to ride together and have some fun! WRONG! By now the ledge was dry and I was able to get up it. Andy was hitting it hard and the jeep died. So an hour later and a cap rotor and other odd parts later we figured out the fuel pump was not putting out enough fuel. So I gave Andy my keys and told him to go get what he needed and I'd take his two riders to their jeep at the double parking lot and we would figure out what to do once he got a pump. I'll let him tell you his adventures. So I past ready to wheel. I get everyone in the Jeep not knowing the girl, Jenny, had never been wheeling before. Tell me if you have never been out otherwise I'm going to go like I go. Well we were hung up behind a couple TJ's and when we got to the three way split one guy kept hitting his steering on a rock so I moved up and yelled at him what was going on. Then asked if he was going to follow his buddy or take the right line? he was following. So off I went. I hit the gas and never let off. We went up that thing and passed the other guy and took off. Jason told me later that Jenny had her head berried in her boyfriend lap. Oops! So we get back to their jeep and the guy discovers that he left his key in Andy's jeep at the bottom of Daniel. So we all pile back in the jeep and head back down Rocky Mountain Loop to head back down Daniel! So I haul ass back that way. It is 2 O'Clock and I have run one trail sense 10 that morning. What a long day of not wheeling this is turning out to be! When we get to the tree way split Jenny asked to be left at the top.... go figure. So we get back down and get his key and head back to the double parking lot. When we get back they go their way and I call Andy. He is 30 min out. So Jason and I go up to Kodak to play. Still wet and nasty I try the ledge and get thrown over to the easy line and go up. So I head over to Budweiser rock and play for a little bit and about dump it on its side. I realize its been 30 min and we need to head out. So we get me off the rock and we head down to the lot. After a short wait Andy and April show up. It is late in the day by now. We all load up and head back to his jeep at the base of Daniel. Unfortunately we get caught up behind some slow running imports on street tires. I think we got back to his jeep around 5 or 6 that afternoon. Between the two of us and April too we get his pump in and can hear it priming. She still will not run though. Timing! So we went to my jeep and got the firing order and then back to his. We set the order and it still will not fire. I told Andy I thought we had everything one plug off on the cap. So we moved everything down one. BINGO! We are a go! Almost 7 that night we get him up the ledge and head out to wheel together for the first time that day! We head up Daniel and out Rocky Mountain Loop to the double parking lot to see with Jenny and company are there. We found Nick and Tim and they decide to ride with us. We head up to Kodak and play some. I wanted to do the v-notch and Budweiser again. On the way we see a group of small jeeps heading on to RML from another trail. It is dark now and my rock lighting is not wired and my headlights are not the best. So we see this group heading up the trail and being where they should not be. The ledge below Kodak is nasty now. I set my frame or tcase down on it earlier when I went up to Kodak and they were heading right into it. So Andy and I are sitting there waiting on this group and we see one grad a fire extinguisher and run up the trial! I'm like great. I jump out and go tell Andy I just saw a guy run up the trail with and extinguisher. So we all head up and see if we can help. Some dude in an XJ has an amp wire melt down and filled his Jeep with smoke. They get the wire disconnected and I get them heading away from the big rock that would ruin their day if not bypassed. I have seen an xj put a fist size hole in his tcase on that rock when it was smaller and now it's a whole lot bigger. So we get up to Kodak and I go through the v-notch and have some fun and play on Budweiser too again. So we head out RML to Sawmill in the dark. Man that new section has a crap ton of berms. Did not get a good look at it in the dark though. I was going to run Saw Mill to Wolf Den to Dutch John but in the dark missed it and ended up on Slab Pile and back to RML. So it being 10 at night I headed back to the parking lot. We proceeded to load up and chat before we headed back home. I will have to say that is the most fun and most not fun I have had all at once in one day at URE! All in all it was a great day and a lot of fun with some great people!

Holy crap Glenn! There's this button on the keyboard that says "Enter". Try hitting it sometime! :roflmao:

I think there's enough people and interest to make this an actual event in the fall. We could coordinate and set up at the outpost and send out the trail rides to the trail heads from there.

The 3 hour trip is not bad for me, I can do it on a tank of diesel.

Yea this is suppose to be an annual event. I'm game for camping if it ends up being a yearly event.

Here is the only damage and the only picture that I know we took.

Well except my front shocks are kinda noisy right now.

I went by the jamboree both friday and saturday, saw Tims jeep saturday on the little dirt mound but I didn't see a tent setup, walked to the ECORS tents and Triad Jeep Club tents and they were unaware. so I hope yall got the NAXJA booth set up and had a blast.

Really? That was at the end of the day, and it was only up there for about 1 minute lol. Assuming you're talking about the one that was right next to the road, and at that point we had just packed up and were about to set off to go find Glenn and Andy before we left to go home.

You went by ECORS and missed us? We were literally 20 feet infront of their tent on Saturday.

30 minutes after I finished reading Glenn's block of txt I'll only add one thing.

Once we got the Jeep running again I crawled right up that ledge and all was well.

Nick crashed in our campsite while Me and April cooked some Hobo dinners on the grill and crashed for the night.

Woke up the next morning and started packing until Brent (The guy from CF) called me and said they were high centered on a rock half way thru RML right below Kodak. We left to rescue them but they had been pulled off by the time I got there. Got back to camp, finished packing and headed out. Did some GeoCaching on the way home.

Good weekend and I have ONE picture of my Jeep with the hood up and about 15 pictures of the ledge on Daniel Denying the Ghost mobile the first time around. (But they're all on the camera that April has)

It was actually very early in the morning, probably 10 am, I just saw Glenn pull up at the outpost, walked over talked to the NC4x4 crowd, Ecors guys and a few others I just knew through volunteer work and what not, I am thinking you just hadn't got it set up yet. but glad to hear u did at some point.

I saw your green xj with yellow paint on everything underneath, and a silver honda.

Anyway, I talked to Eli a bit also, and he said NAXJA continues to be the biggest Uwharrie Volunteer supporter, period, which is pretty darn cool. Keep up the good work folks.
