1996 XJ PCM MT are all the PCM the same??

please help...i have burn out my pcm on my cherokee sport 1996 manual trans and i already find one on ebay. is the PCM the same in this year ore have some diferences?

i mean may i use any pcm for cherokee manual trans....the pcm is from a xj made in hte same year...

i know is a basic question but is important to confirm that..

It would be an ECM, the auto transmission has its own 'computer'. It should work wether its for a manual or auto trans.

I have used a 98 auto pcm and a 97 manual pcm in my 96 manual cherokee. When using the 98 auto pcm, my Jeep would cut out when coming to a stop(must look to the auto tcm for the decell process). When using the 97 pcm, the gen light is half-lit, but all else functions correctly. I haven't compared the pinouts of the 96-98 obd2 pcms, but they have got to be very similar.
