You can't nominate anyone. You need den access for that privilege.

I'm a tech at a participating dealer. I've done a little homework on this CFC thingy. I personally think it is crap.

Your "clunker" has to be less than 25 years old and get a combined EPA estimate of 18mpg or less. It has to be in a safe, drivable condition. It has to have been registered and insured for at least one year prior to trading it in. You must buy a NEW car that gets better than 18mpg. The more the mpg, the more the bonus basically.

When you trade in your "clunker", we drain the oil and trans fluid. We add a chemical silica and run the engine until it seizes. Then we call up a salvage yard and have them haul it off to the crusher. The salvage yard can still make a profit by selling off basically everything but the engine and trans.

Well although it sounds like the program has been halted I still have a quirk about destroying the motor and transmission like that. They should put a title on the car so it cannot be registered and plated but why destroy something that could potentially be reused by somebody else? The whole recycling thing....being green....why make a new motor when you can use an old discarded motor?

But yea it's halted.

Add a Mohawk and it could be someone's twin. I think the guy likes to trespass to test his suspension. Whats his name again?

Nice to know but some people still need to buy used engines and transmissions! I call BS on the cash for clunkers crap!!

X2. bs on the clunkers.
so we are paying w/ taxes so people can default on their loans a year from now?
how is that stimulating/
