1996 XJ Country - Stock - Cash for Clunkers Debate

Durango would definitely be eligible but I would guess its value may be close to $4500 any way?
wait.. confusion.. i thought they doubled the trade in value up to $4500 so if it was worth $4500 i would get $9000?

:eyes:

No way I'm running an XJ in to this program. I would not want a car payment with a government owned bank and I do not want my tax dollars going to help me go into debt just like my government. :smsoap:

Only Chrysler. We looked at the current crop from them but the only one that might have worked for us was the wrangler and that was too small.

Government owned bank? Huh?! Didn't realize the Government bought Ford, Toyota, etc., etc., etc.

Guess you never looked at Citi bank aka Bank of America. :wantyou:
The only auto company is GM. They own >50% of shares. Care to go on? I never said a gov't owned car company on my original post. Does this clarify it for you?

Ummm, no. Your statement makes no sense. The majority of CFC money has nothing to do with GM or BofA. :explosion

Well, at least when all these people trade in their Jeeps for econoboxes they will have no reason to be on here anymore. They can move to NAEBA. I will stick with my old Jeep that can take me anywhere I want to go in any weather and won't crumble in a 5mph fender bender.

Wow, the 4 threads at the top of Non-Tech right now all are pertaining to Cash for Clunkers, and Bundy made the same post in all 4. Trying hard to make sure everyone reads your post or what? ;)

"4 threads of Non-Tech right now all are pertaining to Cash for Clunkers"
There's another thread in the socal chapter, too. I guess I am just a little tired of hearing about it.

I guess it would be too hard to skip threads you don't want to read.

When was the last time you saw a CJ-5? I used to see CJ-5's and CJ-7's all the time, not anymore. I hardly even see YJ's anymore. They made a lot of XJ's so they will be around for a while but this will only speed up their demise.
I am a firm believer in personal freedom but I also believe in taking responsibility for your actions. So, don't say I didn't warn you when you are driving around in your Prius and hating every minute of it. Good luck.

hey... i gotta 91 S-10 4.3L V6 and an 84 chevy silverado stepside with a fresh 350 and 700R4 tranny both 2wd just sitting in my parents back yard i should cash those in... maybe i'll get 7000-8000 for both and have that money to put into my xj =D

... they do just hand over cash right? its not like a check for a new car?

my girls dad personally has 2 CJ 7's at his house, ones pretty cherry looks like the new rubicon bright green, all rhino lined interior fresh MT tires and fresh mickey thompson classic wheels that he never drives with a automatic V8 in it. the other the interior and tops new but the outside needs paint and its a manual but 4wd V8 i think... sad he never drives them though just the red manual when he goes hunting or out to the mountains

No this is not money for you, it's a credit towards buying a new car. With as much as it's been talked about here, in the news, in car ads, etc, how could you miss that?

Also: NOMINATED. Again.
