1988 xj hood latch

previous owner pulled hoodcable handle right off any suggestion on how I can get this open looks like some one tried some marks onhood and header thanks

Take the mounting apart where the handle should be. Then peel the cable sheath open far enough to pull the cable with vise-grips. My '92 was like that when I got it. Found a replacement assembly at a pick-n-pull.
