01 Motor into a 92

Seeing as the ignition systems are totally different, not to mention the sensors, I am curious as to what it takes to transplant an 01 motor into a 92. The mechanical part of the swap is no big deal to me, it's making it work that I want to be sure I can do before buying the motor.

After a quick search, it appears that I need to use a 99 and older due to the DIS. I was hoping that wasn't the case.

IIRC, you "can" use the '01 engine, but you'd have to swap the cam out for one with the distributor drive gear on it. I believe the '01 blocks simply have a plug in place where the distributor would go.

But I've never opened up an '01 engine so I don't for sure know if DC actually changed the cam by deleting the gear or if they continued to use a geared cam and just plugged the distributor hole.
