diagnose 2001 XJ cruise control problem

My scan tool is a basic code reader, sadly. Hmm, I'll see if I can find a schematic for the brake switch.

diagnose 2001 XJ cruise control problem

Hey guys, trying to get the cruise control working on my old XJ. My brother owns it now after I switched to the darkside, and I'm trying to get it working for him. 2001 XJ, 4.0, AW4, NP231, 8.25 rear, HP30 front, 6.5" longarm, 125,000 miles. The cruise servo locked up one day, kept the...

another death wobble thread (not trackbar)

I haven't had time to work on it, but did get a chance to look things over. the sloppy steering is the TRE at the pitman arm. I'll try tightening it and hope that works. If not, order a replacement from Currie. Maybe that's the source of the DW, too... maybe. Right now I'm working on...

another death wobble thread (not trackbar)

The feeling is at the wheel. Turn the wheel left and it feels normal. Right it right and it's "sloppy". Not like dead space where nothing happens, but like stuff is shifting kinda like bad trackbar bushings or an ovaled mount. But, new trackbar and the mount is tight. Turn it back to the...

another death wobble thread (not trackbar)

thanks for the input guys, I do know that the drivers side ujoint is stiff but didn't think that could have anything to do with DW. Just been lazy about replacing it. About the only thing on the list I'm not sure about are the balljoints. I didn't see any shaking the tire with the axle...

another death wobble thread (not trackbar)

Ok, bumping this back up... I replaced the tires and fixed the alignment, but still experienced near-constant death wobble at speeds above 20ish. Talk about annoying! I needed to get it driveable so I put on a skyjacker steering dampener and it acted civilized again. However, you can feel a...

Electric Cooling Fan CFM Rating Tests - DirtBound Offroad

the usual suppliers should be able to get it. Just checked rockauto and it's a bit more expensive than I remembered, around $95. Ebay probably has them cheaper. I'm not sure of the exact fitment, but the part rockauto shows for a 2000 XJ is the same as the one they show for a 96 model. So...

Electric Cooling Fan CFM Rating Tests - DirtBound Offroad

Never used the Dorman one you find in the stores, it doesn't have as many blades as the late-model fans. It's basically a copy of the older fan. They used to make a copy of the newer S-blade fan, but it's been "superseded" in the parts computers. I've used the one from Quadratec but it's...

    Scangauge II setups

Had mine jammed between the A pillar and the dash for a while, but moved it to the top of the dash above the radio with a piece of velcro I had there from a bluetooth GPS receiver.

    Scangauge II setups

Mine has never cleared codes, tried a bunch of times but they stay put. Occasionally turns off the engine light but the codes stay. It won't even read the codes correctly, starts to show the code but goes blank. I use a normal handheld scanner to read and clear the codes. On the odd...

    another ebay snorkel

don't forget the intake temperature benefits. My "cold air" intake is horrible. I actually monitor the intake air temp sensor on my ScanGuageII. Scary how high it gets, at idle it actually reads over 180* if I sit long enough.

    YAOT (yet another overheating thread)

I want to add that I was very tempted to get the 3-fan with shroud kit from DirtBound, but figured I would try replacing the auxiliary fan first since it would be faster than waiting for shipping from the west coast. I'm still very curious to see how their kit would work for me, but since it's...

    YAOT (yet another overheating thread)

ok ok.. this thread is a year old, I know. But I finally fixed the overheating issue recently and seeing the other cooling threads being started and bumped reminded me about this. :) Maybe my troubles will help somebody else. :) The Flowkooler pump turned out to be bad. It blew up a...
