Hi all, I'm bringing this thread back from the dead for a question,
In the coupling for the upper steering shaft section connecting it to the stub coming thru the firewall, i have major slippage. I'm having difficulty finding a decent exploded diagram showing weather or not there is another...

I had to replace the pump in my 99 suburban and upon looking, someone else had already done that very thing. They just bent the sheetmetal back and then RTVd it back down. (I know, half-assed). So i used the same hole to replace the pump. again apparently. It had over 200,000 miles on the truck...
I miss my side-draft carbs on my old MGB. Thats rather what inspired me.
There was some weight on the hose, but its over now and my mind has already gone in this direction which means things will never be the same.
I sure love having a lifted XJ. It means i can change any fluid underneath with a 5 gallon bucket as a catch basin and not have to use a pita oil drain pan.
It also means i can feel safer about my 4 year old getting underneath with me to help.... Because its not on jackstands.
Anyone ever replaced the rubber flex tube by essentially placing an air filter on-top of the throttle body like a carb setup? To do so given space limitations would probably require a hole in the hood and a raised cowl intake type hood similar to a hot rod from the good ol days. I'm asking...
