    re-gearing questions

The preload is determined by how tight you have it. So you would tighten the pinion nut snug and continue to tighten it while checking the rotating torque of the pinion with an inch pound torque wrench. Depends on what axle you have and if you're using new or used bearings what the preload...

    RE 2" Lift and 31's?

Do it right and just lift it higher. You're going to do 2" and want 3". Then you'll have 3" and want 4.5". Goto 4.5" and 33's and be done with it. I learned the hard way cause I started with a 2" BB. I incorporated the 2" into my 3" and I'm happy sitting between 4.5 to 5".

    8.25 upgrade: 27 to 29 Spline Feasibility

Agreed. I posted about this about a week ago. I knew I needed to change the shafts and spiders, but didn't know about the carrier. The more I thought about it it made sense. Either way ..the search function sucks and pulls too many threads with worthless information. Once you wade threw all...

When Did ARB Start Making Diff Covers?

I think they debuted in the last SEMA show. They had an article in Four Wheel Advetures from Four Wheel Parts.

    8.25 - 27 vs. 29 spline

I did, and it was a pita trying to wade through all the BS to get what I wanted. So I posted. I searched for the following under three different discussion subjects: 8.25 = too many results 8.25 27 spline = got 5 pages of results 8.25 27 29 = nothing 8.25 27 carrier = way too many results...

    8.25 - 27 vs. 29 spline

Can you swap the spiders and shafts from a 29 spline to a 27 spline housing or does the 27 spline model have a different carrier to?

    DO-IT-Yourself Bumpstops

Cal - It looks like the only way to fix that would be to extend the upper bumpstop and remove half of the hockey pucks. I'll have to see how close I am to having that same problem .....

I'm not running shims, but have a t-case drop. Once I do shims I probably won't run anything past 3*.

    DO-IT-Yourself Bumpstops

Using hockey pucks for bump stops. I wasn't sure if this has been done before? I picked up a pack of 12 hockey pucks, drilled holes in the middle, and put a bolt threw the middle. The cool thing about it is that they're the perfect size to slip between the suspension coil. So if you want to...
