    2001 owners-YAY or NAY???

Another data point for you, my 2000 has over 170K miles. I recently replaced the front hubs, other than that and routine maintenance items the engine/driveline has not been touched, period. Second gear grinds a little when cold (NV3550) otherwise there are no problems and I wouldn’t hesitate...

    Are all 87-89's dana 44's?

If the hub is part of the axle shaft it is a semi-floater, period. Full-float means the axle shaft plays no part in carrying the load of keeping the hub in place. The housing, spindle, or whatever, supports the hub, not the axle shaft. In the US, in general, full-floats are only used on 3/4...

Would you buy an '01 XJ???

While it is something to be aware of, I also believe there is too much paranoia regarding the 0331 head. When I was looking I wanted an 00+ for the distributorless ignition and NV3550. The 2000 I bought now has 169K miles with no powertrain issues ever. If I had to do it again I'd do the same.

Also the inspection station mentioned check engine light not working. Does the light come on with the ignition on and engine not running? If all is working properly it will be on then go out after starting. If not check for burnt out or missing bulb. Sounds like an eBay fix, "Hey runs great...

    Accident Info 01 XJ

You will probably have to get a reissue or have the title stamped, but I have seen owner buy backs with the owner keeping the original unstamped title. A Carfax check should still catch it however. So let your agent ask for the title, don't volunteer, just have it handy if necessary. Cheers.

    Accident Info 01 XJ

If it works in Illinois like it does here, assuming it is totaled, you should have no problem buying it back from State Farm. They will charge you a percentage of settlement price, probably somewhere around 20% give or take a bit depending on year, salvage demand, how bad wrecked, etc. If...

    Spring U-bolt nut: 52 ft-lbs

    Torque specs for valve cover

Yes, my 2000 FSM states 85 in-lbs. I'll second it, get a FSM, well worth the extra money over the other brands.

Hey Tim_MN, With PMs down I have not been able to read your last PMs and you probably can not read mine. I still want the console, once we can communicate maybe we can finish the deal. Cheers!
