    GM Multi Function Stalk

    87 XJ Radiator Issues

    If you aren't going to change to the open system, at least change the pressure tank so that you can use a real radiator cap. Get a tank from a 89 or 90 grand am or olds ciera as recommended by CheapXJ. Larry A.

    Check the fuel pressure. I had similar problems with my '90 4.0. Turned out a hose connection at the fuel pump inside the gas tank was loose. Larry A.

    I had one break in half like Tony did. Had to drill the stud to get the wheel off. The factory nuts are complete crap. I finally wised up and got aftermarket replacements for both our XJs. While I was at Pep Boys I also got folding 4-way lugwrenches that fit under the seat. Larry A.

    90 xj engine stutter

    Have you carefully checked the EGR system? I had lousy idle and very poor vacuum on our '90. It took me about 6 months to figure it out. Ended up replacing the EGR solenoid and the modulator. Try disconnecting and plugging the vacuum feed to the EGR solenoid to see if anything changes.

    1988 xj hood latch

    Take the mounting apart where the handle should be. Then peel the cable sheath open far enough to pull the cable with vise-grips. My '92 was like that when I got it. Found a replacement assembly at a pick-n-pull.

    I have not noticed any pulsing, but that may be because of the long hose connection to my gauge. I'm pushing a 3 foot piece of hose on the port for the brake booster with an old valve stem in the other end to connect my AC gauge set. I'll try a short hose with a different gauge this weekend...
