    Need some legal advice...

Case closed. I chatted with them on Saturday and told them that I had absolutely no intentions of signing any "new lease" and that they had absolutely no rights to justify action. They gave me their side of the story for wanting to hike the security deposit too. Note: I toured the house while...

    Need some legal advice...

Rich, good points. The problem is that I did indeed sign a lease and I have a copy of it to prove that. If I attempt to walk, then the landlord can reverse their demand and hold me accountable for the duration of the lease. My roommates are pushovers, and only one of them (its a big house, 4 of...

    Need some legal advice...

I signed a lease with my landlord specifying that a $100 security deposit be paid prior to move-in, as well as first and last month's rent. In addition, a 5 day grace period is given for the payment of rent due on the 1st of the month. I'm set to move in tomorrow, but the landlord is now...

Stealin Josh's thunder....building remote control car.....

Yeah...its a full DIRT/SAND buggy. It doesn't have near enough clearance for a rock buggy, just for runnning fire roads, some mud, sand, etc. The whole thing comes in at just a hair under 8 feet long and 4 feet wide. Clearance under the frame is about a foot, but the chain driven rear axle is...

20' stick of tube? You lucky SOB with your smaller version of a buggy... I just went through 40 feet of tubing today and got only the base frame and part of the roll cage done. I'm thinking another 60 feet should do the trick.

Think kiddie quad. One of those little tiny ones you see the 6 year olds riding with their parents at the dunes. The tranny on those is about the size of two fists.

Stealin Josh's thunder....building remote control car.....

How beefy are we talking here? I'm custom building the knuckles for mine, as I couldn't really find a cost effective solution otherwise. After talking with a fellow at a bearing shop, he had a few that would fit the application just fine. From there you just need to machine the appropriate sized...

    More about my free motor

Right now I'm sitting on the fence between the hovercraft, and the big-ass remote control car. I've got most of the parts to do either one, but I'm running into a little snag. The 10hp motor is attached to a generator head, and for the life of me I just cannot get this thing off. I disassembled...

    Help me out...free 10hp motor

Agreed...which is exactly how my friend came about getting this engine :) "Clean this crap out of the building. I don't care what you do with it, just get everything out of here by Monday!" says the boss pointing to the pile of boxes at his shop. Little did he know, one of the boxes contained a...

    Help me out...free 10hp motor

Hovercraft eh? Now that sounds like it could be fun. I was thinking of doing more of a "dirt road" type of kart, but I'm having problems figuring out how to build an axle in the rear. Part of the project here is to spend almost no money whatsoever, so I wanted to just build some sort of axle to...

    Help me out...free 10hp motor

Well, free for me anyway :D A friend gave me a brand new Briggs & Stratton 10hp horizontal shaft motor. By new, I mean it is still in the box, never even been fired up. (LOOOONG story) Anyway, here I am looking at this thing thinking to myself that it would make a very nice little go-kart. But...

To those that actually know something about fabrication

I tend to favor 3/16 myself. Its cheaper, plenty strong, and lighter. I've slammed my bumpers and rockers (all 3/16) more times than I can count, and none of them have dents.

    Spooled good or bad?

Casper, You're thinking about this too hard :) I pulled my carrier out and did the job on the bench just because I wanted to be 100% sure that there was no oil whatsoever. The gears stay in place on their own due to the cross shaft through the center spider gears. No, I didn't put any spare...

    Spooled good or bad?

Oops, sorry about that Casper. I must have copied the link wrong. That isn't my rear though, I just searched pirate really quick to find a shot for you. I never took any shots of mine. If you have any questions, let me know and I'd be glad to help out. One other tip: Stuff a wet rag or some...

    Spooled good or bad?

Check out this picture, it shows how I welded mine. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?s=&postid=1267970 I agree with Matt, pressure makes a world of difference. Personally, I like my welded rear on the street. The only time that I notice it is when I'm taking a slow corner. Other...
