Thanks for the replies. I always wear my seatbelt whether I have a door or not. I am planning on building some tube doors whenever I get the time. Ian

    doorless XJ in Ontario?

I searched the forums but didn't find anything, I am looking for any info or laws around going doorless in Ontario Canada. I see a lot of doorless XJs in the US, is anyone running doorless in Ontario? Have you had any problems with the police? I just replaced my rockers with a 2x6 rect. tube. I...

    perch measurement?

When I built the spring perch for my 8.8, I used 2x2x.250 square tubing, and made it 7 inches long to help with anti-wrap. Ian

    Anphibios XJ

I saw a team from England weld a bunch of 60 gal barrels together and strap it to an XJ and float the thing across a lake on Junkyard wars a couple of years ago. You could try something like that. It might reduce your fuel efficiency Ian

    Rusty Frame welding tips, anyone?

I have a small hole, about the size of a golf ball, on the frame where the front end of the leaf spring attaches to the frame. I am worried that the leaf spring will be ripped off the frame while rock crawling. I have been apprehensive about cutting the rotten stuff off and welding a new piece...

    possible fuel starvation

Well thanks to all of you I managed to fix the problem with my Jeep. I read the title of the original post and realised that I had the same problem as HJ88. I moved ol' rusty out of the garage about a 2 months ago, and wasn't able to start it again, well it would start then shut off after about...

Bad clunking when pulling from stop in rear

When I replaced my spring pack I installed new U-bolts. These U-bolts were tight but loosened off after about 1000 miles. I tightened 'em up and have had no problems since. Try hitting 'em with an impact gun, see if that helps Ian

    Let's say....

I am not sure if this will work but I have used a pipe wrench sometimes when the nut is rounded. The pipe wrench will tighten up as you apply force to the handle. I would try that before drilling or torching. Good luck

    leaf spring backing plates

Did you install an adjustable track bar when you did the lift? The "dog walking" might be because the front axle is no longer centered.

    Locker Q

Yup, I have a Detroit locker and the same thing happens. I always warn people about that if I lend them my Jeep. Usually they all say "Don't worry I've driven a Jeep before" and them tell me something is wrong with it when they get back.
