Thanks to anyone who actually read my posts...If nothing else, maybe you can find a way to make this system more efficient. If you wanted to get real into this idea, put and electric valve with a switch in the system. Build an airbox that will accept two air inputs.
I know there is nothing...
As I mentioned in my last post, I really don't have the time or money to do everything the "correct way". I try to think of ways to spend as little $ as possible yet get a system that works pretty good.
I change the filter in this system before every off-road trip (which is all I use the XJ...
These were broken ratchets laying around my garage and I welded them in to represent the blood and sweat that went into building this Jeep. Basically, this Jeep was my first engineering experience. I discovered my passion for engineering field though building this Jeep. I am currently very...
To be honest with you, I spent all of $60 and maybe 3 hours designing and building this. I would have to say it was well worth the effort. The main cost was the filters.
Question...Has anyone ever seen a selectable or automatic snorkel system other than this one? If so, can you point me...
Actually, I have been running PVC snorkels for 2 years now with no major problem. Any problem I've run across has been an easy fix.
I've also heard that the fumes from the PVC can do damage; however, If there is damage done, it isn't stopping the motor from running great.
Bottom line: PVC...
I will get some pics of the new setup ASAP. I also found a $5 rain cap for the new configuration that is very easy to use.
Literally, changing the filter takes less than 25 seconds at normal speed.
Snorkel Updates.................
Here are the problems I have had with this selectable setup:
1. The filter at the top of the snorkel kept getting ripped off by trees.
2. The filter under the hood kept sliding off the 3" PVC when the engine was hot. The vibrations also played into this.

It is a SW 2001 file; it should work. Also...SW does not have the capabilty of saving as older file formats. The ability to save as older file fomats is a very nice feature of Auto Desk.
Sorry.
Here is the link to the Solid Works approximate 3d model. It requires some detail work, but the majority of work is already done. I am just going to take a few measurments from the XJ and detail the model right. I will also add a floorpan and interior to it.
Download the file called...
I do have Solid Works; however, no matter what type of model it is, almost all 3d modeling CAD packages read Parasolid format. It is not going to be parametric but it will work for my purposes.
Thanks!
Hello all,
I am in the process of designing an exo-cage for my cherokee and am wondering if anyone knows where I could find CAD drawings (preferably 3D models) of an XJ Body.
Thanks you.
