Will be good to see you again - unfortunate you broke that driveshaft last year (this will be a better trip)!

The fact that the latch matches up with the XJ striker is huge. Do they rattle or is it snug?

Nice! Great option considering the time and materials to make your own, price might be worth it to just do this.

Fuel - start with full tank. We can top off in Gerlach, where there is one gas station. Bringing extra fuel is wise. Pretty certain everyone will need to re-fuel. We'll hit Gerlach on Day 2, and pass by it on the way home, Day 4. Water - same as you would carry for a long weekend on the Rubicon...

Everyone: We are one month away from this trip. If you haven't already, please get your XJ out and drive it. Make sure it is trail and road worthy. Reliability is key for this trip. Some things happen but you don't want to have a major system failure, like the cooling system, charging system, or...

It is estimated that round trip will be approximately 350 miles. Probably half on dirt half on pavement.

Post Office cave:

I don't recommend sleeping on the ground with no tent. These guys were active at night. If someone has a black light, please bring it to see them at night.

Used to?.... Still do! (but I don't cook like that) You have to admit, taking a whole Thanksgiving dinner and cooking it on the trail is impressive!

The videography was very impressive. It had to take a lot of effort to get some of those shots.

Guys, I just found the perfect promo video for this trip! It's awesome these old-timers did the same things back then that we do today, and arguably did some things much better (cooking). I'm sure our trip will be just as amazing as we have a few old-timers going! ;)
