I just reuse em, unless the head got rounded when I took it out.
A 5/16" 6 point box wrench is a great thing when it comes to breaking those loose, after which I switch to a regular gearwrench.
Exactly... I learned from you a while back that they are indeed 5/16" and not 8mm as I had previously thought. Unfortunately the last time I pulled this shaft I noticed that the head was rounded on one and I ended up having to cut it off to get the shaft out. Of course now I'm to the point of putting it back in and I can't find any of the bolts. :dunce:
Do you see any issues with using socket cap (allen head) screws instead of reduced hex head screws? Those seem a lot easier to find and I could definitely get them today. I know they are 5/16"-24, but I'm not sure on the length. 1"? Or longer, like 1.25"?
