We spent the weekend at the newest Hatfield and McCoy trail system open to 4x4's and had a great time. We did some much needed camping at Chief Logan State Park, it did get a bit cold though. I was on the winch so much I smoked the main wire to my alternator. It was awesome.

Headed down to Bearwallow (HMT Trail system) and opened up Shaft, one of the trails we scouted last fall. I was following a linked turbo powered buggy on 42's, my little half ton XJ showed them why we love these rigs so much.

Helmets are a requirement there?

Yep, helmets required by HMT. It's where you put your pass decal, unlike a lot of parks where you hang the pass on your rig HMT has you put them on your helmet.

Interesting. I've never been to a park that required them.

With the new buggy I'll be getting a couple of them.

A helmet is a good idea even if not required and it really depends what you're doing. A skate helmet is going to offer enough protection for most people and you can get a good one under $30.

Ran Bearwallow last week with John Herrick from Crawl Magazine and some guys out of North Carolina. We had a great time and finally got around to opening Long Crawl. The guys worked all day Tuesday clearing it so John could be the first tires on Wednesday Morning. Here are a few pics.

There are alot of climbs in Bearwallow, we also ran Tombstone in Swiss WV. I've hit this 3 times and this is the first time I've made it. You gotta line up perfectly and you only get one shot.
