Oil Dipstick Tube Removal

I've read up on the removal method (5/8" nut on grounding wire stud, then wiggle out of block), but I'm looking for experiences with actually pulling the tube out. Does the oil dipstick tube slide out relatively easily or should I be prepared for it to snap off at the pan and be ready for the long haul?

just a little wiggle and it will pop right out of the side of the block.

Some will just pull right out and some are in there fairly well. If it doesn't pull out easily try giving a few taps on the bracket that bolts to the head.

Had to pull pan and drive the tube out of my old motor. No amount of pulling would have removed it without damage.
Old motor was out of the XJ.

I took a small hose clamp and clamped it on the outside of the tube, then tapped on the screw head of the clamp. Worked great!

Wait, that was on the trans tube. Can't remember what the engine oil tube looks like.

The tube is also a lot longer than you'd think it would be. Mine came out very easily.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll try to remember to update this thread if/when I decide to nut up and pull the dipstick tube.
