I've had this cooler for some time and was thinking on installing it. It's a 99 xj with about 140k miles.

The cooler is a Tru-Cool 4950, on this link, it'll be the last one.

You thoughts. I don't tow a trailer yet but if so it'll be about 3500# to maybe 4000#.

The cooler may be overkill but more is better in this case, right?

Thanks.

find a tranny cooler from an older explorer, the boxy ones, from the junkyard. My tranny rarely gets over 170.

thanks for playing, better luck next time.

i heard that you really can't overcool a automatic trans the cooler the better

It'll work. However, you may have trouble fitting it behind the grill. I had to do some griding on the grill and front to make my 3/4" summit plate cooler fit and it's 3/4 thick.
Other than that, at 11x11 and 1.5" thick, it's slightly overkill for an XJ.
