Hosting another club?

The local club I belong to was going to be going to PAP 2 weeks after our event. I told them they might as well just come along and join NAXJA and have a better time of it with folks that actually know what to do and where to go inside the park. I'd say there will be 5-10 rigs coming along. Do any of you (other than the chi town asshat) have a problem with this? Of course, NAXJA rules and regs would be adhered to.

There is a provision either in the by-laws or in the safety regs that says when an invited guest misbehaves and is booted off the run, he/she has to leave the group "with host member escort."

NAC has historically interpreted that (but fortunately not had to enforce it ... yet, although there's a clown in Connecticut who is on the edge) to mean that each NAXJA member may invite ONE guest vehicle. No blanket invitations. If it's a group, I guess we might make an exception and it could be agreed up front that if any one member of the group screws up, the entire group plus their NAXJA member host has to leave the group. That, however, would be based on the assumption that all the vehicles are sufficiently prepared to run the same trails as the host, or else the host would have to settle for running the same trails that the guests can run.

I am not sure how that would leave us vis-a-vis Paragon, since I believe each group has to be guided by a driver approved by PAP as a trail guide. NAC BOD members and committee, please contact me back channel with your thoughts on this.

Can you folks throw me into the loop on your discussion, or better yet let the laundry get aired out here?

I can vouch for all of these guys and gals, they're a pretty stand up bunch of wheelers ( except for rufies :) ) No, they aren't all going to be running with me, although a few of them will certainly try :firedevil There's at least 4 xj's in the crowd that are on the fence about joining NAXJA. I'd say this event would push them over the edge.

Eagle, I realize that you are a letter of the law type of person, but we have made blanket invites on just about every other event that NAXJA has, ask our previous president about this one.

If another organized club (sponsored by a NAXJA member) wants to run with NAXJA and is willing to adhere to NAXJA safety and run regulations, seems to be perfectly acceptable to me - and is in the spirit of UFWDA type cooperation amongst official 4x4 groups.

It isn't like this would just be a bunch of unknown individuals who would just show up for a trailride on public land. Not even a direct liability concern here - at Paragon (or Rausch Creek) ALL of us will be signing waivers falling under their park regulations.

I would welcome their participation - and would "sponsor" any of their members on any trail that I will lead. Since those won't be the same as OneTon's (much as I'd like to think that RED is very capable - I know my own rig's limitations! :) ), the group would be "chaperoned" regardless of where they run with us.

But, just my opinion. I'm not an elected official these days.

I have no problem with them running with us, they can’t be any worse then Sean. Maybe meeting his friends will give us some insight into his maniacal behavior.

As long as they can pass tech and we have enough members to take them on as guests that should cover the rules, if any of them screw up we can just throw their body down the mineshaft and be done with it.

Another useless opinion.

That's fine with me as long as we get to throw Sean down on top of them.

Yep, I agree with Mike and Chris, maybe we'll get a few more folks to become members of NAXJA while we're at it. Sounds like we're going to have quite the caravan heading east this June. I am looking forward to it.

As long as you throw them down as padding first, I'd be up for some freefall :gee:

This is a very new club that's starting up in my area. I don't think any of them have ever been members of an off road club. A couple of them used to be in some low rider clubs or somethin' like that. Good group of folks all in all. Can't wait to show Pebbles who is boss :shhh:

The "spare" thing is an inside joke in case you were wondering - check with Sean for the whole story. Don't believe anything Beezil has to say. :D

BTW, I know it's still a few months away - but when were you guys planning on getting here? The "official" event is from Friday, June 11 thru Sunday, but, I know some are planning on running Thursday as well. Based on past experience, we'll have folks running 1, 2, 3 or all four days, so your planning can be flexible. Saturday tends to be the most heavily attended.

We look forward to runnin' with ya.

i figured the spare thing was an inside joke lol i believe our club is comming out either late thursday or early friday morning. its still being discussed and theres some question from some members about attending with naxja simply due to the ammount of jeeps that will be there. does this event get pretty crowded? i personally will be out there this weekend with sean. that is if he finishes the work up on my junk. (j/k sean i love ya bro) :skull2: ......d

I wouldn't worry about crowding at NACfest. Paragon has over 75 trails and 15,000+ acres to play on - even when they've had massive events like Jeep Jamboree, there's still plenty of places to wander around. Besides, we've tried to pick a quiet weekend in June. Our event is a week after their official monthly ride and, so far there's no other major events scheduled for our weekend.

Our attendance the last few years has been growing, but, being realistic, we would only expect somewhere in the neigborhood of 30 - 40 vehicles during any one day (probably less than that on Friday and maybe Sunday). Of course, that'll be divided up into three or four groups (stock, moderate, hardcore, and insane) - so nobody's going to be stuck behind a few dozen vehicles - this ain't Easter Jeep Safari.

Mike, you guys may want to consider expecting more than 30-40, we just had that many for Winterfest and that was a one day shindig. Most folks around here that I asked are planning on going, and quite a few more are on the fence.
