Homebrewed Fender Flares

These look great, nice work. I wouldnt think these are any more labor intensive than say a winch bumper correct? If only there was a company making these so we could all get some.

I gotta be honest, at first I didn't like them. I don't care for the flat flair opposed to having the whole fender bulge or having some shape to them.

But as you went on it actually looks REALLY good. Awesome Job!!!

I cant find words to describe just how much i absolutly love these. Great work!

Outstanding idea and execution. A faint glimmer of what you did was bouncing around in my head the past little while but now I know where to go with it.
Thanks for sharing.

Gorgeous, man. Absolutely gorgeous.

The one thing I've gotta ask, though - is there any reason you didn't extend the rear fenders down to be flush with the rear bumper and bolt them together there? Not a criticism, just a question (as we all have different tastes).

To be honest I was tired of bending metal and thought it would cover just as much.

Well, I got more hours into the flares than probably both bumpers combined. Probably because I had access to a plasma at that time. The new flat fender flares from Bushwacker for the XJ look almost the same but are made from plastic. Bushwacker and I must have been toying with the idea at the same time but I went with metal. Mine are a little wider on the front flares but that was because I wanted full coverage over the tire for the entire width of the tread.

Thanks for all the cudoz from everyone. I have had some requests for pictures so here is a link to my pic site. http://s172.photobucket.com/albums/w23/epd166/Cherokee%20Fenders/

Thanks Tazz and ColoradoRaptor. I like them too. The final pics show the home made bumpers and rock sliders which were completed before I finished the fender flares.

They Look So AMAZING!!!! WOW is about all I can think to say! BTW your very welcome you did a great job and just thought I would say it!!!

You gave me a good idea to try in the spring for sure! I did alot of EMT bending back when I did control's and that just might be the ticket for what I have been looking to do!!!
Thanx Man!!!

it means "just swell" :lecture:

Im sure in the next year or two there will be more companies making these. At that price though, Id be buying myself a welder, getting tubes bent and doing them myself. Might cost more all together but Id end up with a welder AND tube flares. The Tomken ones look like they would need a little work before I mounted them anyway. Thanks for showing these though, didnt know they existed:thumbup:

OP, do you have these braced to the wheel well/inner fender? If not, it would be pretty easy to do so correct?

WHOA !!! First off they came out very nice... I've been wanting to do the same thing for awhile now... I didn't want to do the whole panel just build a tube flare with a mounting flange... I was even thinking of the rubber welting idea too.

Well done...

Curt

They look awesome. really do. Are you going to brace the backsides of these to the frame inner fender? And also why Galvanized conduit? Seems like really weak metal to be using on it, or was that the point?

Either way, I may be copying you on this!
