East Lake now has a toilet. I went in a couple days early and dug the hole(jackhammer is in the wooden box).
This was done the last weekend in October.

There was a mess of roots.

Ran into rocks and had to scoot the hole over.

Supported the roof with 4X4 posts because of the fascia cracking on some facilities.

Man I really need to run that trail! That toilet is looking good!

It looks great! You guys did a good thing up there. This trail is on my short list to do and now with the improvements its even more convenient.

Thanks for the kudos guys, we're hoping the new improvements at East Lake will help take some of the camping pressure off of Ershim Lake. Ershim is the most popular destination, it gets crowded and there are sometimes arguments about campsites. :flame:

This has happened to three of our toilets on other trails, probably due to snow load.

This is how the problem was addressed on two toilets(so far)on Dusy before the problem arises, we're hoping this will prevent it from happening.

You sure a bear didn't get up there?

Nice job on the john! Looks like a STURDY table too.
Thanks in advance for all the effort in putting them in. Never ran the Dusy but it's on my short list and plan to next year.

Thanks, I like to let people know what's going on. Especially that we couldn't have done this without the BFG Outstanding Trail Program.

Could a moderator get rid of the giant pictures for me? I don't seem to have an edit option.

Edit: Why does this post have an edit option, but the others don't?

you get to edit your post for like the first 60 minutes or so

The prefabbed facility was picked up from the Forest Service work center by one trailer and taken to the trailhead, then it was distributed one wall per trailer.

Volunteers dug a hole half way down and ran into 3 big rocks, then Forest Service showed up and dug a new hole.

Putting in the bolts that hold the corners together.

Getting ready to repair a wall that was damaged on the way in.

Holding the front wall in place while it gets attached.

Shimming before tightening the bolts.

Installing hurricane ties.

Installing windows.

Installing drip edges.

Installing wire to keep marmots out. We usually use a heavier wire, but this was brought by mistake. It will be replaced with heavier wire later.

Putting the right blade on.

Cutting the hole for the louvered vent.

Touch up painting a spot that was damaged on the way in.

Finished.

The carnage.

A group from Washington State was happy to provide a replacement box they had with them.
