BDS Long Arm 4-Link vs. TNT Y-Link Radius Arms????

The Full-Traction system is also a 4 link.

couldn't un-loading be prevented somewhat with some limiting straps, or one center limiting strap?]

Yes and No........A center limiting strap might work but It would limit axle travel at all times. Which wouldn't be the greatest in some situations.

You would be better off using a suck down winch when the situation needs it.

I HAVE experianced the unloading of the Y-Link and it almost cost me my jeep. That is one downfall of the radius arms. I like TnT and all but if I was to do it again I would go with the BDS. The BDS kit was not out when I did my build. The TnT had just came out.

So you're saying 4-link long arm setups cannot unload like the radius arm? How so?

I wish I could could tell you why but I don't know. I have not heard about the 4 links unloading. I was thinking about using a suckdown winch on mine for climbing. I dont think limiting straps would do you any good they would just be there to save your shocks/brake lines.

The "performance" (loading, unloading, etc) of each system will vary based on the suspension geometry of the system. It will also vary based on the vehicle and mods/weight/etc. There for it would be VERY difficult to compare the performance from one system to another without putting them on the same vehicle (then again, 1 in stock form might never have the same characteristics as one that has been turned into a buggy).

Yes but its ground clearance is much worse than the BDS system.

True, but on a JeepSpeed machine that wouldn't matter.

I can't speak to which kit (BDS or FT or ?) has the better high speed geometry but it is a point worth considering.

The BDS system will have much better control of caster change over travel, which can be pretty important in a long-travel go-fast kinda setup. Caster goes all over the place with a long travel radius arm which makes it less than ideal as far as keeping your steering steady.

Check out Jeff's (Squirrel80) build thread for install and flex pics of the BDS system. It's badass!

I have TNTs setup and have wheeled with it for over a year.

I love everything about the kit except for it being a radius arm (I hate the boogie when doing high wheel speed hill climbs such as the video below, could be something else though)

No problems flexing, rides great, clearance is exceptional (barely ever tap the arms), and I haven't had to drop my bellypan since I installed it.

I've given it some pretty good abuse...

hows your CA bushings and shocks? thems what cause wheel hop, even though i dont get wheel hop with me short arms that have blown bushing, and nice photshopped pics, we all know you only wheel on dirt roads

Not sure. Haven't checked the CA bushings, but I know the shock bushings aren't too happy.

im thinkin that kind of hop is shock related, had the same issue in my green jeep on short arms with blown frt shocks and ive also seen it with clayton arms with blown shocks
