thinking about getting an XJ again

Changing the motor mounts and checking the mount brackets are the first thing I'd do. I did the oil filter adapter o-rings on my '90, but that was 25 years ago. My right hand dexterity is actually pretty good, but my left not so much. I've changed the starter on my daughter's '07 Honda Accord...

thinking about getting an XJ again

Hello. I'm 51 and bought my first XJ, a 1990 5-speed, in 1998. I put Rusty's 4.5" coils up front and 3" spring packs with 3" longer shackles in the back. I put an Adance Adapters SYE and Tom Woods driveline in. I did many other things too, but those details aren't necessary. I sold it in 2005...

    Naxja original gang?

I joined in 2003. I'm 51 and bought my first XJ, a 1990 5-speed, in 1998. I put Rusty's 4.5" coils up front and 3" spring packs with 3" longer shackles in the back. I put an Adance Adapters SYE and Tom Woods driveline in. I did many other things top, but those details aren't necessary. I sold...

    Removing ABS Hardware

BrianJR, can you answer my question? Brian, I am in the market for a '97 - '01 XJ without the ABS. Could you please tell me if the following question I asked in OEM Tech forum is true? With ABS, the brake lines run from the master cylinder to the pump and then from the pump to the wheels...

    Which '97 - '01 trim levels came with NP231? What about non-ABS?

new question about ABS Half of these dealers (sales people) don't where to put gas in the car, let alone whether or not the Jeep does or does not have ABS. At least the Chysler dealers can run a build sheet. From the pictures I have seen, the vehicles with ABS have extra hydraulics to the...

Did they ever figure out the overheating problems on the newer XJs.....

Dude, I am such a woman! My wife and I bought a '04 Honda Odyssey in September. We're having child #3 on 11/14 (cessarian), and the oldest will be turning 4 in December. It was either a minivan or a Suburban. My wife didn't want the Suburban due to the PIA it is to climb over seats in order...

    33X12.50?? Lift??

I'm officially trying to sell my '90 XJ so I can buy a '97 - '01 XJ. When I first installed the 4.5" lift and 31's on my '90, I thought it was a bit too much. But it definitely grew on me and now I like the idea of 33's. However, the '97 - '01 requires even more trimming than the pre-'97 XJ's to...

    1990 XJ Laredo

Well except for my home made disconnects. I extended the stockers with a nut/coupling and some all-thread. I then used wing nuts for the top part. I replaced the factory bolts on the bottom so once the nut is loosened, I can unthread it by hand. I can remove them in less than five minutes...

    Which '97 - '01 trim levels came with NP231? What about non-ABS?

Here are some pics of one here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2439416785&category=6281 The bumper is all black, there are no body side moldings (or they're painted), and you get a bling bling grill. The chrome looked good on my '90 Laredo, but I'll pass on the...

    Which '97 - '01 trim levels came with NP231? What about non-ABS?

Sounds good. I'll look for a Classic or optioned out Sport. You're right about the leather seats. I'll more than likely be wearing shorts when I'm running trails. I'll slip the coveralls on if I have to do any dirty work. Thanks. Roy

    Which '97 - '01 trim levels came with NP231? What about non-ABS?

That's what I was afraid of. Even if you could downgrade the Limited to only have Command-Trac, the chances of someone doing that are slim. I guess I could always luck out.

Re: Re: Which '97 - '01 trim levels came with NP231? What about non-ABS? Oops. I definitely know the difference but typed the wrong thing.

    Which '97 - '01 trim levels came with NP231? What about non-ABS?

Well, that's good. I'm happy to see that I can at least have a Classic AND not have ABS or a Selec-Trac. Now to see if a Limited is available that way also.

    Which '97 - '01 trim levels came with NP231? What about non-ABS?

Yeah, I know how to find ABS, or the lack thereof. If a Classic or Limited only came from the factory with ABS, than I don't want a Classic. So did they? Oh, so pulling the fuse also removes all of the hydraulic crap that is involved with ABS? (sarcasm) Let's say the Classic and Limited...

    Which '97 - '01 trim levels came with NP231? What about non-ABS?

I'm in the market for a '97 - '01 XJ. Proably just a '97 - '99, but I'd still like to know about the '00 and '01. Specs desired are 4.0L, auto, NP231 (selec-trac), no ABS, and preferrably an 8.25 rear end. The trim levels I am open to are Sport, Country ('97), Classic, Limited, and 60th Anniv...
