Repainting my 2000 XJ and removed all the glass and seal for a better job. I should have checked first but I cannot find a new seal for the rear glass in the liftgate. Anyone know of a source, and no the 84-96 does not fit. Thanks
Do you still have the compressor? Actualy I need a good rebuildable ac clutch. My pulley bearing went out and destroyed the clutch surfaces and melted the magnat. I dont mind geting a new bearing for your clutch assembly if it's still for sale. Thanks, Angus
The XJ is in good tune. It has new plugs and DIS ignition so no issues there. I keep up with everything else very well. The only question may be the injectors, but not because of an issue just they are 116,000 miles old. Even the O2 sensors are relatively new.
I have had the speedo checked...
Just checking on my thread, great work guys. I have done the K&N, but my 2000 has a distributerless ignition so not much I can improve on there. My exhaust is stock so maybe work is needed there.
I've got the stock roof rack, unfortunately I use it and need it to stay. I did several tests last year and found the E10 gas was no benifit. I guess its time to use the Jeep for errands again to test mpg. Around town it is very easy to drive without going over 2000rpm, but I can verify that...
Markw, that is the point of my whole post? I realize the lift and tires are hurting the mileage. I was only wondering how much of a improvement I might expect if I drop everything and retire. Is 2-3 mpg out of line?
Oh and to one of the others, the speedo has been corrected and is acurate.
OK again, the O2 sensers are 15,000 miles old and work well. I am very particular with my vehicles as I also work on Firetrucks. I own a diagnostic scanner and all sensors and readings show good. My only question may be the injectors, but it is for my peice of mind not that there is any...
OK, I guess I need to be more specific, but I thought I said most of the needed info. 2000 XJ with a 4.0 and AW4 automatic, 8.25 rear, D30 front with synthetic gear, t-case and motor oil (Mobile one 5-30). Trans is DexIII dino as per factory recomendation. Tires are actualy overinflated for...
After much thought and many dollars for gas I need to do something. I don't want to sell the XJ but I need to improve the mileage. I've got a 4.0, AW4, 4.11 gears, 32x11.50 BFG AT's and 5" of lift. I started lifting from day one, 2000, and do not know what my mileage should be. I do know...
Unfortunately I have not found a 241 for comparison purposes. Several guys on shift have Dodge Rams and of course they all use 231's. I did talk to John at JB Conversions about my idea's. He does not do anything with 242's so he did not know about the rear bearing ohusing possible similarity...
All good info. Let me be specific, I was wondering about the rear bearing case on a 241 being the same 4 bolt mounting as a 242. I have the KJ 242 now and dont realy want or need the torque of the 242amg. I would be happy with a 242j, but got a good deal (maybe) on this KJ unit. My concern...
Digging up an old post huh. For those that may remember or bother to reread, has anyone confirmed the swapabilty of the 241 tail to a 242? I just bought a '03 KJ 242 and it does have 32 spline on both outputs? What it doesn't have is the speedo output. Just trying to see if anyone other than...
I have been wanting a NP242 for my 00XJ for some time. Finally the other day I found a good deal on a 02 Liberty 242. This case bolts up but does have some differences that I will work out. Both the front and rear output shafts are 32 spline. The front output should take a CV style yoke, the...
I just bought a 02 KJ (Liberty) NP242 TC. This unit will be going on my 2000 XJ. Several things I have noticed about the KJ 242. Both the front and rear output are 32 spline, of course the rear is a slip yoke for now. The rear bearing housing is the newer style, but does not have a speedo...
