'87 always runs cold?
I bought a REM to diagnose this and I'm stumped. The dash gauge and the signal from the cts show that the coolant only ever gets to 160-170.
I put in a new thermostat and tested the old one and it opened near 195 where it was supposed to with no change in the running...
Stopped about 400 miles ago and put in a bottle of Lucas stop leak to no avail. Lost about 1/2-3/4 quart just coming up the hill from the Sac valley to Truckee where I'm camping tonight, trailing a nice smoke screen up all the hills. (Got passed by cops? I would have pulled me over)
Planning...
I don't want to be a tease, and was going to wait a little to get some pics and progress before posting...
But I just dropped the xj off for some 4.56 Revolution gears and RuffStuff covers. I have a growing pile of boxes and stickers, and Dan Fiske lined up for a little fab work. Hopefully 13...
Picked this up today. I've been looking for a very small, cheap, enclosed trailer for a small adventure trailer for a year now. I saw this parked in a yard last year with a for sale sign in it and thought it would be perfect, then went back a couple days later and it was gone. I assumed it was...
I really want to hit up nw fest this year, and plan it around taking a couple weeks off work to some exploring and finish up the trip there. Ant chance of dates getting locked down sooner than later?
Just noticed this today, still have wipers and heat in key off position. Sign that I need an new ignition switch? Or could there just be something loose? I replaced the wiper switch a little while back and would think I would have noticed before now if something got bumped and I lost the off...
Hi Naxja
It's been a long time.
I've had my xj since 2003. First car. Lots of adventures and added 160k to the odo.
I've decided that I will never regear from 3.55, never get more serious about tackling double black diamond trails at ohv parks and never bounce off rocks in the garden.
I'm...
I finally pulled up the carpet after I knew it had been taking on water for a couple winters, presumably from the windshield.
There were a couple small holes, which turned into big holes by tapping around them with a hammer
Started cutting, kept cutting, pushed a screwdriver through...
Just trying to help out some family with a '97 whose driver seat is broken all to hell. Some stains are not a big deal just looking for minimal tears, foam not completely broken down, and the base not broken. Maybe even just the base and tracks would be good, I have not yet looked at it close...
Does anyone have a set of setup bearings for the carrier and pinion for a d44 I can borrow? Also, is there anyone in PDX-ish with a press that would be interested in a trade for pressing the new bearings on?
Thanks
4 for the price of one!
These are the blue and yellow Bilsteins that are the same length as stock shocks (read 0-2" lift) but have heavier dampening than stock.
I'll be perfectly honest, these shocks have a lot of miles on them. Probably 50-80k.
BUT
They're Bilsteins!
The compression and...
http://bangshift.com/blog/driveway-tech-how-to-adjust-your-gm-steering-box-in-five-minutes-with-two-tools.html
I just want to check that the proper way to adjust the sector shaft is to tighten it until snug, then back off 1/4 turn. I just adjusted mine 1/4 turn tighter than factory then went...
I need to double check the date but this summer I will hit my 10th anniversary with the Sex Palace.
Here's the baby picture, before I brought it home from central Oregon
and here is a pic from last summer on the NW Discovery Route trip. 150k miles later. I should win an award for longest...

get your camping gear for next year
after years of denial, I removed my stock rear sway bar. I was expecting a little sloppier handling. That's not what I got.
The stock rear sway bar must bind the rear suspension in some way, as my ride over broken pavement, potholes, and speed bumps has smoothed out. Also, after I welded in the...
Its a 1966 Schwinn Stingray Deluxe. Ive had this thing since I was like 12 and was always too busted ass to ride around much when I was a kid. Now I think I'm into it $80-90. I wish I had some pics of it in the rough, cause it was rough. I have five hours into just getting the rust off the chrome.
Cool car show, way the hell too expensive ($20 at the gate) and it rained like a bitch the whole time I was there. Link to album of what I thought was cool.
