So to what extent can you do those three things without them being tied to a cage? Do they interfere with any other parts you might be putting on so you need to plan for that?

I think because most people won't be purchasing an entire kit you can look at the kit as a checklist for the person who is piece by piece putting a truck together. Quoting the dude who had posted above and not received an answer, what I mean was that it doesn't say "Bilstein 5100's" or "No name brand walmart specials" or whatever else like it does for the tires and wheels. The stuff that is branded vs the stuff that T&J fabbed themselves

Is that why the shocks etc are not listed because they will price the kit with whatever you like? Is there an easy way on the site to locate the individual items in the webshop?

The Bilstein 7100's sounded like the way to go in general, but im sure the Fox or FOA or whatever ones are good too. I really need to convince the wife that we have room for a 3rd vehicle ;p

Thanks tbburg. I think for starters I just need a family friendly rig that can go more than 12 mph on the dirt out there in Ocotillo etc. Then I need to get to meet some folks/get to some events help out with chase or pits or whatever else and just learn lots. I am not seeing class 3100 listed...

Yeah XJ seems like a better platform and cheaper to start with but it has less creature comforts for the wife. Then again if we are talking about getting serious when it comes to a desert toy at some point the creature comforts will be gone anyway. I was looking around at the FJZ80' toyotas...
