    Tow rig buildup

No trailer, all truck. The stinger is a hydraulic lift that grabs the front tires of the vehicle being towed. And the rig you mentoned wouldn't have any better stoping power than 3/4 ton ford d44 discs and rear 14bolt semifloat drums.

    Tow rig buildup

good point, but tow trucks average ~110-120", and the truck I got the stinger off of measured 110" from front hub to rear hub, and the axles are plenty wide.

    Tow rig buildup

I have an '88 limited that I would like to make into a tow rig for my Toyota, but still be able to wheel it and actualy flex in the rear. What are my options for variable spring rates? I was thinking about an airbag setup(still limited flex) or a hydraulic suspension like on the newer...

    What should I save?

I have until the 15th of november to "show progress" and until the 1st to have the three gone. Code enforcement sux.

    What should I save?

Not entirely certain if this is the right place, but there are mods involved so here goes: The Illustrious City of Tukwila(south Seattle) has informed me that I have too many vehicles on the property(I guess 6 xj's is too many :D) So I need to figure out what to strip and what to save, the...

    Factory fog wiring

The harnesses are different between those with fog lamps and those without. If you want to keep the factory wiring, you will have to go find a factory loom with it built in.

Newer 360 in 97 CJ Engine Swap

I think he ment YJ. Supposing that it is a '97 wrangler, and that you are removing the 360 from a Grand Cherokee with the 5.9 option, the swap will be VERY dificult at best. Nothing will bolt up, the transmission and t-case will need to be from the grand in order to use the Grand computer. More...

    Confusing tire sizes

I've been looking at cheap ways to gain more ground clearance, and for now I've settled on a 32/9.5 r16. for a spare I rwas going to carry a 32/9.5 r15 I have, but when I compared the two the r16 was a good 1.5" taller than the r15. Now, I was under the impression that the 32 was total tire...

    Not OEM Gauges

Outside air temp guage is VERY helpful during the winter, I salvaged mine off of a mercedes, and added a little red light for when it hits 0 degrees C. That light has saved my butt from crashing on black ice more times than I care to mention. Beyond that, I've seen everything from oil temp...

    Misc. engine bay questions

I have kept both a repair and fuel log for the durration of my ownership of the truck (8 mos). The gromet, hose and check valve were all replaced when the vaccume system was revamped. The stumbling is VERY noticible when cold, and will die if the gas pedal is not depressed slowly to start with...

    Misc. engine bay questions

I ask because I have a vaccume leak that I'm having trouble tracking down, if I were to consolidate the vaccume lines, I would have less suspects. I have new questions, The truck has 235k well oiled miles on the engine compartment, and because of this, everything rubber or plastic in the...

    Misc. engine bay questions

Here goes: 1. Does the charcoal canister have to be right side up to function correctly? I am currently running it on it's side, no problems yet, but could there be a problem? 2. Do vaccume operated sensors all have to have separate lines?(i.e. map sensor, a/c vac can, ect...) 3. Why is the...

    Alternator relocation

After replacing my alternator for the second time in six months, I realize that it might be a good investment to relocate it to a "safer" place on the engine. The spot that the A/c pump resides in looks tempting, but the a/c still works and still has R-12 in it. Has anyone ever relocated their...
