Paying extra for owning new vehicles. (you pay property tax on your vehicles when you register) My truck is over $400 to register!

How many F'n times can they tax the same money?
F THAT!
I thought it was bad in IL paying $175.00 per year per trailer.
For trailers I use this, mainetrailerregistration.com

The next new vehicle I buy will be bought through this, montana llc

Taxation is theft and there is no reason to be screwed by our government.

If you’re selling you old trailer, let me know. Mark is looking to buy a trailer soon.

It's not on the market. Haven't bought anything yet, plus I'm too emotionally attached to it...so I'm gonna try to justify keeping it if I pull the trigger on a new one.

whats the point on taxing so much for new vehicles. kinda makes you not want to buy new. maybe i'll just keep everything registered in WI

If you have family there then yes, I would.
But you will either have to put their name on the registration or keep your WI DL.

except its technically illegal...

The except to the MI trailer rule is that you can register it in MI to your out of state address...

55 a year for my 02 XL, 55 for the 98 XJ and 25 for the car trailer. 5% taxes on purchase of vehicles on time here in IA. We do have local option sales tax but doesnt cover vehicles.

I'm amazed that another state has a more expensive, screwed up process than the People's Socialist Republic of Chicago...

Indiana is a pretty cheap place to live...except for license plates...

I always told myself...

Self, if you ever buy another trailer...after nearly 20 years of using car trailers, whether borrowing or owning, learn from the past and buy it right.

The aluminum is a 20 ft deck. 5200lb axles. My current one is 16 ft deck with 3500lb axles. The aluminum is 300 lbs lighter. My payload will increase from 5000 lbs to 8650lbs...over 3600 lbs. Currently the Jeep and golf cart max out my payload on the axles. It will give me some room.

Plus is has side rails, stake pockets, removable fenders, and WILL NOT RUST!

I'll use it primarily behind the RV and no one but me will ever pull it.

The "count on one hand" number of friends that can borrow my current trailer, can still borrow it for the whiskey fee. It will be nice to keep around for those times when there's a vehicle to scrap or broken and needs to sit on the trailer an extra day or two. As well as those times when buddies with Jeep want to go wheeling and they have a truck but no trailer.

I helped Rosco build it in 2002. Then in 2003 he sold it to me. Those that know what's up with that, know that I'm not ready to part with it.

Actually, the Montana gig is 110% legit.
You open up a "company" and incorporate it in Montana.
The company owns, operates and maintains all of your vehicles.
It is no different that any other company.
I have many times thought about doing this if I ever have to buy another new vehicle.
The taxes on the Fusion were $800.00 something.
Montana does not charge a sales tax on vehicles, and plates are dirt cheap, like less than $20.00 per year and trailer plates are a one time fee like Michigan.
It costs about $600.00 to incorporate in Montana.
