Best Steering Box Brace

Isn't there a debate against the bar style brace because it can actually cause cracks on the opposite side?

I think the argument against the bar style is that because it's attached to the opposite frame rail, as the frame rails flex it can actually pull the steering box away from its mount.

Hmmm. I guess changing the orientation and taking their own pictures makes it their product now?

I'll second that about the currie one not fitting with bad motor mounts. Mine would have been all over the bottom pulley without tha creative rebending I did. I guess even with new mounts you'd be faced with the bottom pulley laying on the brace before too long too... So maybe frame plate, box brace and MORE mounts? Thats what I did and couldn't be happier...

i run both.. the frame has been plated and i have a brace... i did see some flex still with just the brace so i plated the frame.. now nada

How does the c-roc plate work with Custom 4x4 tow hook brackets?

I ran the c-rok plate with Rustys tow hooks and the C4x4 xmember reinforcements as well as 10ga unibody plating up to the two front bumper holes. Wasn't a problem, just use longer bolts.

I had about .500" of steel on that side

Bring this thread back alive.

Anyone know if these will work with the Durango Steering Gear box? I have the Iron Rock Steering plate already installed. But i found out the Durango Box is much bigger and had to but some thick washers on the plate to push it away from the frame a little.

I built one that I knocked off the design for the ram truck braces by PSC. Actually bought the nut from PSC for the dodge ram and used it in my brace

I have bumper plates on the outer frame rails and a track bar brace. This is basically like another crossmember. It won't pull the box off the frame because it is bolted to both Framerails, and essentially puts the sector shaft/pitman arm in double shear.

this is what I run, I also made it myself.
I also sell them on ebay

That is a really cool set up. I would love to do something like that.

I could almost make that at home... nice and simple. And your set up works for the Durango Gear Box? Whats your ebay sale link?

Whats your ebay sale link?

I actually don't know the link (im an ebay noob)
but if you search "jeep Cherokee steering box stiifeners" itll be there. I also sell just the tube brace by itself

you dont know how to get to your own ebay page for stuff you are selling? That makes no sense?

Anyway, I run inner 4 bolt inner plating from JCR , 4 bolt AGR box, welded some plating on the top of the frame rail nea rthe box. rustys cross frame brace, winch bumper that ties back about a foot or so on each side, with 9 bolts on each side holding it to the frame. I also run the RE across frame trackbar brace. welded trackbar frame mount to frame and added 5 additional through frame bolts, but my mount I made wider than stock to move it forward a few inches.

I'm also running the IRO steering box spacer with a Durango steering box and found that I had to add a one or two grade 8 washers between the spacer and steering box. It'd be nice if someone sold a steering box spacer that was made to be used with the Durango box. In the future I would just make my own I guess.

I also bought the IRO steering box brace (outer frame rail plate), and while what I really wanted was the C-Rok setup, I don't think you can go wrong with the IRO brace for $25.

Had to chime in my 2 cents on this one.

$136 + $29 for shipping = $165 for a couple of plates with holes and a rod with a few welds. Maybe for 65-75 but I'll pass on the $165.

unfortunately, I agree with the price, however, paying someone to water jet the plates is NOT cheap and that's where over half our cost is.
however, I did lower the price anyways.

As long as the Durango gear box sektor shaft housing is the same diameter and the same distance from the unibody as the stock Cherokee unit, it should work.

Running both C-Roc and MORE; C-roc first and the MORE when it was on sale. If I did only one it would be the frame brace C-ROC style; my front bumpler also comes down and laps the frame on the outsied and C-roc inside, sandwiched.
I can not tell you the difference as new gearing, hubs and tires after. Preventative in my mind.
