Important

I would never do such a thing! Because I can absolutely relate :)

Here's the new one:

Needs a little work here and there, not sure it will stick around long term but I got a good deal and couldn't pass it up.

Two summers ago I bought a RustJ (YJ). Drove the crap out of it all summer and loved it. It was actually quite a stress reliever to just go cruising with the top off. There are times where I wish I still had it...but I more than made money on it in the short time I had it and sometimes that's more worth it...

I really could use it now tho...

Top down, screamin out...

You'll have to keep it at least for summer cruising. I put a little gravel in my travel today and yesterday in the CJ.

^like

mac 'still got the baby jeep' gyvr

You're all making me wish I had my 5 ton fixed and driveable. That thing was awesome to drive around with the top off. Kinda like a 3 axled 20 thousand pound CJ-3B, actually.

Kinda makes me want a WHYJ. I get the appeal of top down driving. It is pretty fun. At the same time, an old stock CJ or Willys would fill that void with some class. And would empty my wallet again.

I have always had a thing for a Willys wagon. That is on my list of "gonna have some day" items. Right now my next item of want is a 1967-1972 Chevy C20 4x4. A total restoration and decent lift w/ some good looking wheels and tires. Oh, and it must be 2 tone paint w/ the bronze/copper color with white in the center. Crate motor and factory A/C....it would go to DD status real fast in my books!

today is my official start to workcation, although i did work all weekend also.
sat. cleaned up yard and got it ready for a week full of work.
sun. pulled all the rock and weeds and weed stopper that wrapped the pool
mon. pressure washing the deck that wraps the pool.(maybe pressure washing other things also if time allows.

more to come

That's more or less the plan... needs a new leaf pack in the rear and some clutch adjustment. It doesn't seem too awful slow (IMO) with the 4 banger and 33s but I haven't really done highway speed yet. A quick search on craigslist indicates that it's probably worth a lot more to someone else than it is to me, so it'll have to go at some point. Plus having 3 Jeeps in the yard is getting a little out of hand.

And I am afraid to pull off the diamond plate and see what (doesn't) lie underneath.

Leave the diamond plate......blang factor yo

check for rust behind the rear spring hangers...that is where the YJ I bought form John busted on me. It ended up being so bad that both side were broke and not enough left to weld back together....and I still sold it for $2500. It ran great around town and the back roads w/ the 4 banger and 31's...but keeping it at 70+ on the highway was not gonna happen.

I had a 95 yj that I traded for the bus, I drove that for a while and it was fun, for a while. It looked okay, had a 4.0 and rubi wheels. Sold that for $4k on the inside of a week.

Where's my profit-sharing check? :D

The front frame by the steering box was what scared me. The few times I drove it, I was expecting the steering box to fall off every time I turned :scared:

I guess YJ are real jeeps though, at least they have square headlights.

I'd love a YJ or CJ for a summer DD. Almost pulled the trigger on one before I bought the ZJ. I had grand plans to make a 3 person rear seat to haul the kids around in, just never did it.

Well, after I took out the fuel for driving to your place and back, putting on the new wheels and tires, fixing the exhaust, brakes, leaky fuel tank, floor pans and new top, I forgot to send you the negative cash flow sheet :D It was a fun little rig, and buffed out nicely, but rust was its final fate. Speaking of the trip up, we need to do that again this year. Missed seeing ya at WF and hope to get to see ya at FestFest

Hypothetically let's say I was looking at a higher mileage (~230k) 2006 Cummins w/ a 6 speed manual and 4x4 on the floor. Anything that could really burn me with that kind of miles on it? I'm assuming the engine is not much to worry about, it's probably had a new clutch or two by that point, and the front steering/suspension parts have probably been gone through a few times by that point. I know everyone says that drivetrain should be bulletproof, but are any other parts on the truck likely to cause me problems at that point?
