Discovered some red stuff under the ZJ tonight and crawled under expecting to see the tranny bleeding. Nope, it's the transfer case. I guess the 249 has it's own set of problems. I don't hear any grinding so I'm assuming the VC is holding up so far (75k) but obviously I've got a seal problem. My question is what do ya'll think, should I dump the 249 and try a 242 or maybe the 231 which I'm kinda partial to because both the XJ and the YJ have one and they've held up great.
No syncros in the 242 or something? What should I be considering in a swap?
